CHAPTER
4
GOD LOVES YOU
“[No]….greater love…than this…”(John
15:13 KJV)
*
*
God has chosen
you. God’s “good news” has drawn you. God’s “measure of faith” enables you, and now
God wants you to know he will love you unconditionally, forever!
God’s love is
something you can abide (live) in safety for the rest of your life and it will
never forsake you or run out (John 15:10; Hebrews 13:5).
To “abide in God’s love” is to stay
engulfed, surrounded, covered, or soaked IN His love, which is experienced “in”
Christ. All true lessons in love begin
with God’s love
While learning
about God’s love, remember he says, “….as
I have loved you… love one another….” (John 13:34 ASV).
Many times, we
don’t love others God’s way because we don’t know God and if we are honest, our
flesh doesn’t even know how. “Beloved,
let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is
begotten of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth
not God; for God is love” (1 John 4:7-8 ASV).
When you begin to
learn about God’s love pay attention to the parts that you internally reject
or where you judge God for loving in His unique way. “For from within, out of the heart
of man, proceed evil thoughts… wickedness… pride... All these evil things come from within, and defile
a person.” (Mark 7:21-23 KJV).
For instance, God says, “…love your enemies…” “…pray for them which
persecute you...” “…if your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat; if he be
thirsty, give him water to drink...” “…do good to them which hate you….”
“..bless them that curse you...” “….pray for them that despitefully use you…” “…lay
not … sin [against people]…” AND “[don’t pay]…one evil for [another] evil…”
(Matthew 5:44; 1 Samuel 24:17; Proverbs 19:11; Proverbs 25:21; Luke 6:27-28;
Acts 7:60; Romans 12:20; and 1 Thessalonians 5:15 KJV).
God’s love is not like human love.
When you love difficult people under difficult circumstances “…you [demonstrate you are] children
of your Father which is in heaven; for He maketh his sun to rise on the evil and
the good, and sendeth rain on the just (righteous) and the unjust.(unrighteous)…” (Matthew 5:45 KJV).
Anywhere you reject
God’s love for you personally or reject opportunities to show God’s love to
others; it’s most likely an area in your heart that needs transforming.
The heart is
deceitful above all things (Jeremiah 17:9). Pray and ask God to enable you to
both receive and give true love to others, even when it’s hard.
MATTHEW 7:12 |
Love is the most powerful BOND
available to mankind. Humanity weakens the true expression of love, because
they have so severely abused it throughout the ages.
God wants to
love you and to restore you to TRUE LOVE through the YADA relationship.
Love is the road
to fulfilling the law, to bonding to God, yourself, and others authentically.
Without God,
your love is limited to human efforts and it is impossible to truly enjoy true
“oneness” with any other person.
Sex does not produce
the “oneness” God’s kind of love does. “…Put
on love, which is the perfect BOND of unity...” (Colossians 3:14 NASB).
And, “But
he that is joined unto the Lord is one
spirit” (1 Corinthians 6:17 KJV).
In order to
become “ONE” with God; you must be joined lovingly to his Spirit. “But he that is joined unto the Lord
is one spirit”
(1 Corinthians 6:17 KJV).
Being joined
with Lord is to also be one spirit with God’s love. The most important core
trait of God is Love. “…God is love…”
(1 John 4:8 KVJ).
When you don’t
demonstrate love for God or love for others; it is hard to imagine you even “know”
God (1 John 4:7-8). You normally start behaving like the company you keep on a
regular basis.
Jesus said, “…..what he seeth the Father doing… he doth… in like manner” (John 5:19 KJV).
Again, you start behaving like the people you keep company with (Proverbs
13:20).
According to the
scriptures, the MARK of a
true believer is that they “…have love one to another” (John 13:35 KJV).
This is further
supported when Jesus says the greatest commandments are “… you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your
soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor
as yourself” (Luke 10:27 RSV).
You can desire
and follow after many, many things; spiritual or non-spiritual pursuits, but
the scriptures tell you to “…follow the
way of love…” (1 Corinthians 14:1 NIV).
Desire is a
directive expressing your wants; follow is a directive expressing your focus.
The bible says
keep your focus on love and “follow the
way of” it. It is not your desire, but your focus that becomes your real experience.
In order to
experience true “oneness” God wants you to know, experientially, the love HE
has for you.
It’s not man’s
kind of love, but God’s kind of love. No one knows how to love better than God;
God is love.
