THE MIRACLE OF DELIVERANCE
“…the Lord brought us forth out of Egypt
with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with great terribleness, and with signs, and with wonders…” (EZEKIEL 13:3 KJV).
*
God delivered over a million and a half people
out of the land of Egypt and he miraculously took care of them for 40 years in
the wilderness. “…Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which ye came out from
Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the Lord brought you out from this place..”…” (EZEKIEL 13:3 KJV).
“…BY THE
WORD of the Lord the heavens were made…”
(Psalms 33:6 NASB).
“…BY THE
WORD of the Lord the [Israelites were delivered out of the
house of bondage] …”
(Psalms 33:6 NASB).
“…I am the
Lord, I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians...” (Exodus 6:6-7 KJV). “…I will
rid you out of their bondage...”
(Exodus 6:6-7 KJV). “…I will redeem you
with a stretched out hand...”
(Exodus 6:5:6-7 KJV). “…The Lord bought [Israel] out with a mighty hand and redeemed
[them] out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of…Egypt. … (Deuteronomy 7:8 KJV).
“…All
things (including the DELIVERANCE of ISRAEL) came
into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into
being that has come into being …
(John 1:1-4 NASB).
“…Since the CREATION of the world God’s INVISIBLE
QUALITIES—HIS
ETERNAL POWER AND DIVINE NATURE—have been “CLEARLY SEEN”, being UNDERSTOOD FROM WHAT HAS
BEEN MADE (the GREAT DELIVERANCE)…” (Romans 1:20 NIV). “…I
will take you to me for a people,
and I will be to you a God: and ye
shall know that I am the Lord your God, which bringeth you out from under the
burdens of the Egyptians…” (Exodus 6:7 KJV). “…the Lord brought us forth out of
Egypt with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with great terribleness, and with signs,
and with wonders…” (Deuteronomy
26:8
KJV).
“…BY THE
WORD of the Lord the [Israelites were delivered out of the
house of bondage] …”
(Psalms 33:6 NASB).
God delivered Israel by
sending ten plagues upon Egypt and it destroyed their way of life.
The ten plagues,
according to Exodus chapters 7-11, were the miraculous acts of God that delivered Israel
out of the house of bondage in Egypt.
God, first, sent Moses
to ask King Pharaoh to release his people from bondage, but the King of Egypt
refused.
Moses and Aaron, empowered
by the Holy Spirit, demonstrated their message was from God Almighty by
swallowing up the rods of the Egyptian sorcerers and magicians. “…And the Lord said unto Moses …Thou shalt speak all
that I command thee: and Aaron thy brother shall speak unto Pharaoh, that he send
the children of Israel out of his land …Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you,
that I may lay my hand upon Egypt, and bring forth mine armies, and my people
the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments. And the
Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I stretch forth mine
hand upon Egypt, and bring out the children of Israel from among them. And
Moses and Aaron did as the Lord commanded them, so did they… And
the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, When
Pharaoh shall speak unto you, saying, Shew a miracle for you: then thou shalt
say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and cast it before Pharaoh, and it shall become a
serpent. And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the Lord had commanded: and Aaron cast
down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent. Then
Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt,
they also did in like manner with their enchantments. For they cast down every
man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron's
rod swallowed up their rods…”
(Exodus 7:8-12 KJV).
King Pharaoh was not
impressed and did not listen to Moses or Aaron. Therefore, God sent the first
plague which turned the waters of the Nile River into blood. God said, “….In this, thou shalt know that I AM the Lord,
behold, I WILL smite with the rod that is in mind hand upon the waters which
are in the river and they shall be turned into blood...” (READ Exodus 7:14-25).
Again King Pharaoh was
not impressed and did not listen. His OWN sorcerers and magicians turned other
waters into blood and simply dug new wells. God sent a second plague which
caused frogs to come out of the river. “… I will smite all thy borders
with frogs: And the river shall bring forth frogs abundantly, which shall go up
and come into thine house, and into thy bedchamber, and upon thy bed, and into
the house of thy servants, and upon thy people, and into thine ovens, and into
thy kneadingtroughs: And the frogs shall come up both on thee, and upon thy people,
and upon all thy servants. And the Lord spake unto Moses, Say unto
Aaron, Stretch forth thine hand with thy rod over the streams, over the rivers,
and over the ponds, and cause frogs to come up upon the land of Egypt. And
Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt; and the frogs came up,
and covered the land of Egypt…”
(READ Exodus 8:1-15 NLT).
Even though King
Pharaoh OWN sorcerers and magicians were able to make frogs too; it seemed to
get his attention. He pretended he would let the Israelites go, but he did not.
God sent a third plague which caused lice to come from the dust.
“…So the Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Raise your
staff and strike the ground. The dust will turn into swarms of gnats throughout
the land of Egypt.’” So Moses and Aaron did just as the Lord had
commanded them. When Aaron raised his hand and struck the ground with his
staff, gnats infested the entire land, covering the Egyptians and their
animals. All the dust in the land of Egypt turned into gnats. Pharaoh’s magicians tried to do the same thing with their secret
arts, but this time they failed. And the gnats covered everyone, people and
animals alike. “This is the finger of God!” the magicians
exclaimed to Pharaoh. But Pharaoh’s heart remained hard. He wouldn’t listen to
them, just as the Lord had predicted…”
(Exodus 8:16-19 NLT).
King Pharaoh “STILL”
did not listen. Even though his OWN sorcerers and magicians could not duplicate
the lice and claimed, themselves, this act was from God. God, however, had to send a
fourth plague which caused flies to affect ALL of Egypt, ACCEPT the Israelites.
“… I will send swarms of flies on you, your officials, your people, and
all the houses. The Egyptian homes will be filled with flies, and the ground
will be covered with them. But this time I will spare the region of Goshen, where my people
live. No flies will be found there. Then you will know that I am the Lord and that I am present even in the heart of your land. I will make a clear distinction between my people
and your people. This miraculous sign will happen tomorrow.’” And the Lord did just as he had said. A thick swarm of flies filled Pharaoh’s
palace and the houses of his officials. The whole land of Egypt was thrown into
chaos by the flies…” (READ Exodus 8:20-32
NLT).
King Pharaoh sorcerers
and magicians had reached their limitations. He was impressed by this
miraculous act of God and pretended he would let God’s people go, but again he
refused. God sent a fifth plague which affected their livestock with
pestilence.
“… The Lord did just as he had said. The next morning
all the livestock of the Egyptians died, but the Israelites didn’t lose a
single animal. Pharaoh sent his officials to investigate, and they
discovered that the Israelites had not lost a single animal! But even so, Pharaoh’s
heart remained stubborn, and he
still refused to let the people go…”
(READ Exodus 9:1-7 NLT).
God sent a sixth plague
which was boils. This was a skin disease that bought boils upon the Egyptians
and the rest of the animals they had left. The sorcerers and magicians were
infected too.
“…the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Take handfuls
of soot from a brick kiln, and have Moses toss it into the air while Pharaoh
watches. The ashes will spread like fine dust over the whole land of Egypt,
causing festering boils to break out on people and animals throughout the
land.” So they took soot from a brick kiln and went and stood before Pharaoh.
As Pharaoh watched, Moses threw the soot into the air, and boils broke out on
people and animals alike. Even the magicians were
unable to stand before Moses, because the boils had broken out on them and all
the Egyptians. But the Lord hardened
Pharaoh’s heart, and just as the Lord had
predicted to Moses, Pharaoh refused to listen…”
(READ Exodus 9:8-12 NLT).
God sent a seventh
plague which caused hail and fire to fall from the sky. God’s people that
stayed inside did not suffer from the storm nor did their animals. The
Egyptian’s crops, some of their people, and whatever animals were left were ALL
destroyed.
“…I will send a hailstorm more devastating than any in all the history of
Egypt. 19 Quick! Order your livestock and servants to come
in from the fields to find shelter. Any person or animal left outside will die
when the hail falls.’” Some of Pharaoh’s officials were afraid because of what
the Lord had said. They quickly brought their servants and livestock in from
the fields. 21 But those who paid no
attention to the word of the Lord left theirs
out in the open … the Lord sent thunder and hail, and
lightning flashed toward the earth. The Lord sent a
tremendous hailstorm against all the land of Egypt. Never
in all the history of Egypt had there been a storm like that, with such
devastating hail and continuous lightning. It left all
of Egypt in ruins. The hail struck down everything in the open field—people,
animals, and plants alike. Even the trees were destroyed. The only place without hail was the region of Goshen, where the
people of Israel lived …Pharaoh again became stubborn. Because his
heart was hard, Pharaoh refused to let the people leave…”
(READ Exodus 9:13-35 NLT).
God sent an eighth
plague which caused grasshoppers to come and eat up whatever was left of their
crops and trees. The Egyptian people were convinced by the plagues and began to
plead with Pharaoh to let the Israelites.
“…I will bring a swarm of locusts on your country. They will cover the land
so that you won’t be able to see the ground. They will devour what little is
left of your crops after the hailstorm, including all the trees growing in the
fields. They will overrun your palaces and the homes of
your officials and all the houses in Egypt. Never in the history of Egypt have
your ancestors seen a plague like this one!” the Lord hardened
Pharaoh’s heart again, so he refused to let the people go.Pharaoh’s officials
now came to Pharaoh and appealed to him. “How long will you let this man hold
us hostage? Let the men go to worship the Lord their God!
Don’t you realize that Egypt lies in ruins?” ….the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart again, so he refused to let the people go…”
(READ Exodus 10:1-20 NLT).
God sent a ninth plague
which caused Egypt to be covered with a darkness, for three days, so thick they
could actually feel it. King Pharaoh requested for Moses to end the darkness
and he would finally let the people go. However, he didn’t like the offer Moses
made and refused again.
“…the land of Egypt will be covered with a darkness so thick you can feel
it.” …a deep darkness covered the entire land of Egypt for three days.
During all that time the people could not see each other, and
no one moved. But there was light as usual where the people of Israel lived … But
the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart once more, and he would not let them go. …” (READ Exodus 10:21-29 NLT).
God sent a tenth and
final plague which caused the death of the firstborn of both people and animals.
ALL the firstborn of Egypt died on the same night, even King Pharaoh’s son died
(READ Exodus 111-12:36). “…This is what
the Lord says: At midnight tonight I will pass through the heart of Egypt. All the firstborn sons will die in
every family in Egypt, from the oldest son of Pharaoh, who sits on his throne,
to the oldest son of his lowliest servant girl who grinds the flour. Even the firstborn of all the livestock
will die. Then a loud wail will rise throughout the land
of Egypt, a wail like no one has heard before or will ever hear again.
…” (Exodus 11:4-8 NLT).
The children of Israel
that painted their door posts with the sacrificial blood of an animal did not
lose their firstborn to death. “… But
among the Israelites it will be so peaceful that not even a dog will bark. Then
you will know that the Lord makes a distinction between
the Egyptians and the Israelites…”
(Exodus 11:4-8 NLT).
This created a FEAR in
the hearts and minds of the Egyptians and they gave all they could to get the
Israelites OUT of their land.
“…
All the officials of Egypt will run to me and fall to the ground before me.
‘Please leave!’ they will beg. ‘Hurry! And take all your followers with you.’
Only then will I go!” … The
Lord caused the Egyptians to look favorably on
the Israelites, and they gave the
Israelites whatever they asked for. So they
stripped the Egyptians of their wealth!”
(Exodus 11:4-8, 12:34 NLT).
“…BY THE
WORD of the Lord the [Israel was delivered out of the
house of bondage] …”
(Psalms 33:6 NASB). “…I am the Lord, I will bring you out from
under the burdens of the Egyptians...” (Exodus
6:6-7 KJV). “…The Lord bought [Israel] out with a mighty hand and redeemed
[them] out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of…Egypt. …
(Deuteronomy 7:8 KJV).
King Pharaoh would NOT
allow God’s people to go and refused to for a long time. But eventually, he
himself, COMMANDED them to GO! “…Pharaoh
sent for Moses and Aaron during the night. “Get out!” he ordered. “Leave my people—and take the rest of the Israelites with you! Go and worship the Lord as you have requested. Take
your flocks and herds, as you said, and be gone…”
(Exodus 12:31-32 NLT).
God DELIVERED thousands
that night. “…That night the people of
Israel left Rameses and started for Succoth. There were about 600,000 men,
plus all the women and children…” (Exodus 12:37 NLT).
The Israelites had been
in slavery, in the land of Egypt, for over 430 years. “…The people of Israel had lived
in Egypt for 430 years. In fact, it was on the last day of the 430th year
that all the Lord’s forces left the land. On this night the Lord kept his
promise to bring his people out of the land of Egypt. So this night belongs to
him, and it must be commemorated every year by all the Israelites, from
generation to generation…”
(Exodus 12:40-42 NLT).
“…I will rid you out of their bondage...” (Exodus 6:6-7 KJV). “…I will redeem you with a stretched out hand...” (Exodus 6:5:6-7 KJV). “…The Lord bought [Israel] out with a mighty hand and redeemed [them] out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of…Egypt. … (Deuteronomy 7:8 KJV).
There are documents
such as the Ipuwer Papyrus that give evidence of the ten plagues of Egypt for
those who need more prove than that of the bible. This document also makes
reference to Israel's departure with the treasures of Egypt.
Some Egyptian archaeologist
make claims that the biblical account of Egypt and the biblical historical people
are pretty accurate.
The bible is ENOUGH for
God’s people and they do no need secular historians to verify God’s TRUTHS. “…BY THE WORD of the Lord the [Israelites were delivered out of the
house of bondage] …”
(Psalms 33:6 NASB).
However, it is
interesting that secular records exits and are remarkably paralleled with the biblical
truths.
“…BY THE
WORD of the Lord the [Israelites were delivered out of the
house of bondage] …”
(Psalms 33:6 NASB). “…All things (including the DELIVERANCE
of ISRAEL from bondage) came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing
came into being that has come into being …
(John 1:1-4 NASB).
“…Since the CREATION of the world God’s INVISIBLE
QUALITIES—HIS
ETERNAL POWER AND DIVINE NATURE—have been “CLEARLY SEEN”, being UNDERSTOOD FROM WHAT HAS
BEEN MADE (the GREAT DELIVERANCE of Israel from bondage)…”
(Romans 1:20 NIV). “…your
God,
which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians…”
(Exodus 6:7 KJV). “…the Lord brought us forth out of
Egypt with a
mighty hand,
and with an outstretched arm, and with
great terribleness, and with signs, and with wonders…” (Deuteronomy 26:8 KJV).
Has God’ method of DELIVERING his people
from BONDAGE changed? “…I am the Lord, I change NOT…”
(Malachi 3:6 KJV). Is anything too hard for God to DELIVER you from? “…I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there any thing
too hard for me?” (Jeremiah 32:27 KJV). Is your DELIVERANCE
impossible? “…The things which are
impossible with men are possible with God…” (Luke 18:27 KJV).
“…I
want to do what is right, but I can’t. I want to do what is good…” (Romans
7:14-25 NLT).
“…Who will free me from this life that is dominated by SIN …” (Romans
7:14-25 NLT). “…Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord…”
(Romans 7:14-25 NLT).
“…BY THE WORD of the Lord [YOU
are delivered from ALL bondage]
…” (Psalms 33:6 NASB).
“…If any man be in Christ, he is a NEW
creature: old things are passed away; behold, ALL THINGS are become NEW…”
(2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV). “…God has given [you] HIS Spirit as
PROOF that … he [dwells]…in
[you]…” (1 John 4:13 NLT). “…IT IS THE
GIFT OF GOD …”
(Ephesians 2:8-9 ASV). “…God
… SENT forth the Spirit of His Son “INTO” [Y]OUR… HEARTS…” (Galatians 4:6
NASB). “…The Spirit of God dwelleth in you?” (1
Corinthians 3:16 KJV). “…It is God who worketh IN YOU,
both to will and to do of His good pleasure” (Philippians 2:13 KJV). “…Christ liveth in [you]
…” (Galatians 2:20 KJV).
“…I can do all things through
Christ which
strengtheneth me…” (Philippians 4:13 KJV).
“…It is God who works in you…”
(Philippians 2:13 NIV). “…The God of peace … that great Shepherd of the
sheep, … work[s] in us what is pleasing
to him, through Jesus Christ…”
(Hebrews 13:20-21 NIV). “…The
God of peace … that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip[s] you with
everything good for doing his will…”
(Hebrews 13:20-21 NIV). “… [God] grant[s]… [true
believers]… to
be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man…” (Ephesians 3:16 KJV). “The same God who does the work IN and THROUGH all
of us who are his. The HOLY SPIRIT
DISPLAYS God’s power THROUGH each of us …” (1 Corinthians
12:4-11 NLT).
“…BY THE WORD of the Lord [YOU are delivered from ALL bondage] …” (Psalms 33:6 NASB).
“…BY THE WORD of the Lord [YOU are delivered from ALL bondage] …” (Psalms 33:6 NASB).
“…The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me preach …. deliverance
to the captives…” (John 4:16-21 KJV). “…if the
Son (Jesus Christ, the indwelling Holy Spirit)…shall make you FREE, ye shall be FREE
indeed.” (John 8:36 KJV).

God be for [you], who [or what bondage] can be against [you]?” (Romans 8:31
KJV). “…BY THE WORD of the Lord [YOU are delivered from ALL bondage] …” (Psalms 33:6 NASB).
“…if
the Son (THE WORD)…shall make you FREE, ye shall be FREE indeed…”
(John 8:36 KJV).
“…The Lord bought [Israel] out with a mighty hand and redeemed
[them] out of the house of bondmen…
(Deuteronomy 7:8 KJV). HE WILL BRING YOU OUT!!
THE GREAT DELIVER!!!
“…Trust in (DEPEND
UPON) the Lord with all thine
heart; and lean not unto (DON’T
DEPEND UPON) thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall
direct thy paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV). “…The LORD will accomplish (take care of)…that which concerns [you]…”
(John 14:31 NASB). “…The steps (DELIVERENCE) of a good man are ordered (DIRECTED) by
the Lord: …” (Psalms 37:23 KJV).
“…BY THE
WORD of the Lord [YOU
are delivered from ALL bondage]
