Part 5
YOU
ARE Predestined and Chosen by God
To
be His
“God chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world.” (Ephesians 1:4)
ONE WITH GOD THROUGH CHRIST |
This personal “oneness”
relationship with God through Christ is one of the most important inward MARKS
of every Christian.
No other distinguishing marks stand
out more than being “in” Christ. Being “in” Christ demonstrates Christianity is
not based on a religious system, but on a holy “oneness” relationship with the
Living God.
HOLY ONENESS |
Because
of God and God alone; you are “in” Christ (1 Corinthians 1:30). The
entrance into the relationship with God is through faith, “…you
have been saved through faith…” (Ephesian 2:8-9).
THROUGH FAITH |
The
Christian journey includes daily living “by exercising faith” and hearing the
word of God (Galatians 3:11).
In
order to enjoy the relationship with God every interchange must proceed from
faith, because …
“whatever does not
proceed from faith is sin” (Romans 14:23).
Without
exercising your God-given faith you will not be able to please God at all
(Hebrews 11:6).
You
responded by exercising your God-given faith when you chose God, therefore, you
will endure by faith, and finish by faith.
Being
“in” Christ is being “in” a new identity and is the result of exercising the
measure of faith you’ve been given by hearing the word of God.
Two
important things about faith: a.) God gives you a “measure or portion of faith”
when you become a new creation and; b.) it’s activated when it hears the word
of God (Romans 12:3 and Romans 10:17).
Jesus
is the Word. Thus faith is activated when it hears Jesus (the Word).
MEASURE OF FAITH |
We
have come to learn that “…faith comes by
hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Roman 10:17) and that the word of
God “….is the power of God unto salvation
to everyone that believeth…’ (Roman 1:16).
Salvation means,
according to Strong’s concordance, redemption or deliverance from sin, its
effects and its consequences.
If
the gospel,
the word, Jesus is the power of God unto
salvation, it is God’s way of bringing YOU and others to salvation.
We also understand that
“…faith
is the substance (reality) of things hoped for, the evidence (Proof) of things
not seen (Hebrew 11:1).
In my
perspective these scriptures are telling believers that “faith COMES” by
hearing the Word of God, which is Jesus.
Faith comes when it hears Jesus, the Word.
Faith is a servant to and the unseen power of Jesus and comes whenever his words
are heard.
Since faith is a
servant to or the unseen power of Jesus every time faith hears the Word of God “…something usually appears from what was once invisible, without form or void…” (Romans 11:3; Genesis 1:1).
MAKING THE INVISIBLE, VISIBLE |
Every believer
has a portion of that holy faith. Faith therefore enables (empowers, supports)
believers to live a new reality and witness God’s unseen power to make
invisible things visible.
In addition, the
believers “measure of faith” - which is at the Word’s beck and call - enables
us to hear Jesus’ voice too and follow him. “My sheep hear My voice, and I know
them, and they follow Me.
John 10:27.
We see that faith
is a fixed provision or support, gifted to believers by God, to enable them to
fully experience the supernatural reality of things hoped for and unseen. “…Faith
is the substance (reality) of things hoped for, the evidence (Proof) of things
not seen (Hebrew 11:1).
EPHESIAN 2:8-9 |
Let’s
do a little review about faith:
2.
FAITH IS SUBSTANCE –THE REALITY OF (creative power of God to make things
visible out of what is invisible to the human eye.
3.
FAITH IS EVIDENCE – PROOF (you witness the invisible through visible proof)
4.
FAITH IS A GIFT FROM GOD (his unseen power)
5.
FAITH IS NOT HUMAN OR HUMAN
EFFORT
6.
FAITH (invisible) AND WORKS (visible) ARE A TEAM
