GOD IS "NOT" HUMAN, BUT SPIRIT AND DWELLS "IN" YOU!

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

                             DO YOU REALIZE THAT GOD IS NOT HUMAN?

“…GOD IS SPIRIT…” (John 4:24 KJV). “…God is not human …” (Numbers 23:19 NIV). “…. [Yet], YOU THOUGHT  I, (God, the HOLY SPIRIT) was EXACTLY like you….” (Psalms 50:21 NIV).

 God distinctly SAYS that the DIVINE nature is “NOT” human. The DIVINE NATURE is NOTHING like SINFUL NATURE. “…God (the holy spirit) is not human “…God is Spirit …Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill…” (Numbers 23:19 NIV & John 4:24 KJV).

Mankind uses TITLES and LABELS to understand God, yet end up trying to conform the DIVINE NATURE into an image familiar to themselves, but he is NOTHING like SINFUL NATURE. “…God is not human …” (Numbers 23:19 NIV). “…“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine … my ways are higher … my thoughts higher…” (Isaiah 55:5-9 NLT).

Mankind did NOT create God. God CREATED mankind and they were originally CREATED in the IMAGE of the DIVINE NATURE which is HOLY! “….let us make man in “our” image, after our likeness…” (Genesis 1:26 KJV).  “…..God created man in his own image…..male and female created he them…” (Genesis 1:27 KJV). “….God formed man of the dust of the ground (BODY), and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life (SPIRIT); and man became a living soul (SOUL)…” (Genesis 2:7 KJV).

God sent JESUS, THE HOLY WORD of God, to RESTORE mankind BACK to WHOLENESS, which MUST include the DIVINE NATURE. “… I said, “O Lord, be gracious to me; Heal my soul, for I have sinned against You...” (Psalms 41:4 NASB). “… I will restore you to health And I will heal you of your wounds,’ declares the Lord…” (Jeremiah 30:17 NASB).

God is a “…restorer of thy life…” (Ruth 4:15 KJV). “…He restoreth my SOUL…” (Psalm 23 KJV). “…The law of the LORD (the WORD of God) is perfect, restoring the SOUL…” (Psalm 19 NASB). “….He (the WORD OF GOD) restoreth my soul….” (PSALM 23:1-3 NLT). “…I (God, the holy spirit) will restore…” (Jeremiah 30:17 KJV).  God is a “…restorer of thy life…” (Ruth 4:15 KJV). “…the Holy Spirit gives birth to (or restores) SPIRITUAL LIFE…” (John 3:6 NLT). “….Jesus Christ (the WORD of GOD) maketh thee WHOLE (RESTORES)…” (Acts 9:34 KJV).

It is important to NOTE God DOES INTRODUCE the DIVINE NATURE using human anthropomorphisms, yet, the DIVINE NATURE is NOT human and has NO human limitations. “…GOD IS SPIRIT…” (John 4:24 KJV). “…God is not human …” (Numbers 23:19 NIV). “…. [Yet], YOU THOUGHT  I, (God, the HOLY SPIRIT) was EXACTLY like you, [BUT I AM NOT]….” (Psalms 50:21 NIV).

God is NOT like HUMANS; he originally created them to be LIKE him. Thus, HUMANS were CREATED in the image of the DIVINE NATURE “not” the other way around. “….Let us make man in “our” image, after our likeness…” (Genesis 1:26 KJV).  “…..God created man in his “own” image…..male and female created he them…” (Genesis 1:27 KJV). “….God …breathed into his nostrils the breath of life…” (Genesis 2:7 KJV).

God introduces the DIVINE NATURE as SPIRIT when he SAID: “…GOD IS SPIRIT…” (John 4:24 KJV). God, the Holy Spirit, expresses the DIVINE nature and DIVINE power through his WORDS and ACTIONS.

God being SPIRIT means that God is NOT human or does NOT have a human body. However, “….God formed man of the dust of the ground (BODY), and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life (SPIRIT); and man became a living soul (SOUL)…” (Genesis 2:7 KJV). God made man in three parts. They had a body, his Spirit, and a soul.

What was the ROLE of each part?

 1. The body is given to YOU by God to ENGAGE with natural LIFE. The body is a CONDUIT for INTERACTING WITH everything in the natural world.

 2. God’s Spirit enables you to ENGAGE with and PARTAKE in spiritual LIFE.  His Spirit WORKS “IN” AND “THROUGH” the human body to DISPLAY God’s power.

3. THE SOUL is YOU. The soul is the authentic self. The authentic self includes the heart, emotions, affections, appetites, conscience, personality, and THOUGHTS.

The thoughts are the command center of the SOUL. The THOUGHTS tell the heart, emotions, affections, appetites, conscience, and personality what to do or how to behave.

The soul’s THOUGHTS listens to, or teams up with, or agrees with, or is influenced by either the Holy Spirit or the SINFUL NATURE to carry out certain behaviors and actions.  “....Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” (Amos 3:3 KJV).

The soul's THOUGHTS are initially influenced totally by the sinful nature and thus, has to be TRANSFORMED. “…Be transformed by the renewing of your mind [YOUR SOUL, through the WORD of GOD)….” (Romans 12:2 KJV).  

The body, soul, and God’s Holy Spirit were once ONE UNIT or in a SPIRITUAL union or relationship together.

At one time, man’s thoughts were TOTALLY influenced by God’s Holy Spirit. Their thoughts were HOLY (set apart and totally FREED from sin).

AND, they had the FREEDOM to choose to remain in the UNION with God or follow another path. 

The freedom to choose was first witnessed when God gave Adam and Eve ONE instruction to follow. He said: “…of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou  SHALT NOT EAT of it; for in the day that thou eatest thereof THOU SHALT SURELY “DIE” …” (Genesis 2:16-17 KJV).

Of course, Adam and Eve did not CHOOSE to follow God’s instruction. By choosing to follow their OWN path, they FELL “AWAY” from God or were separated FROM his Holy Spirit, which CAUSED absolute and complete Spiritual DEATH. “…Every man is tempted, when he (or she) is drawn away of his (or her) own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it BRINGETH FORTH SIN: and sin, when it is finished, BRINGETH FORTH DEATH…” (James 1:13-15 NLT). “…through one man SIN entered into the world, and DEATH THROUGH SIN, and so DEATH passed to all men—“(Romans 5:12 KJV).

Adam and Eve became “…separated from the LIFE of God…” (Ephesians 4:18 NIV). “…It is the SPIRIT who gives LIFE…” (John 6:63 NASB). “… [their] … iniquities (sin) …separated [them]… from God… …” (Isaiah 59:2 KJV). “…All have sinned and fallen SHORT of the GLORY of God…” (Romans 3:23). “…the wages of sin is death…” (Romans 6:23 KJV). “…and SIN, when it is finished, BRINGETH FORTH DEATH…” (James 1:13-15 NLT).

Without God’s Holy Spirit mankind’s only has their physical body  and their dead soul, but NOT God’s HOLY Spirit. They became DEAD souls. “…the body without (apart from) the spirit is dead…” (James 2:26 KJV) “…DEAD in [their] ...sin” (Ephesians 2:1 KJV). “…when [you] were DEAD in sins …” (Ephesians 2:1-5 KJV).“…YOU… were DEAD in your transgressions and sins…” (Ephesians 2:1 NIV). Like the prodigal son, “… [YOU were]…. DEAD … [you were]… lost …” (Luke 15:24 NIV).

The SOUL is no longer influenced by God’s Spirit, because it DOES "NOT" have the HOLY SPIRIT. The SOUL that is SEPARATED from God’s Holy Spirit is NO LONGER influenced by the HOLY SPIRIT. All their behaviors, or actions, or reactions, which are displayed outwardly originate from the DEAD SOUL (which also includes the heart) and is influenced by the sinful nature. It is“… from within, out of the heart (part of the SOUL) of man, proceed evil thoughts…these … come from within, and defile a person.” (Mark 7:21-23 KJV). The heart (part of the SOUL) “…is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked…who can know it…” (Jeremiah 17:9 KJV).  "…Offspring of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart (part of the SOUL) the mouth speaks. The good man, out of his good treasure, brings forth good things, and the evil man, out of his evil treasure, brings forth evil things." (Matthew 12:34-35 ).

“…So I say, let the Holy Spirit (IF you have the indwelling Holy Spirit) guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature (DEAD SOUL) craves. The sinful nature (DEAD SOUL) wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the [Holy] Spirit wants. And the [Holy] Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature (DEAD SOUL) desires. These TWO FORCES are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. …When you follow the desires of your sinful nature (DEAD SOUL, the RESULTS are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God. But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature (DEAD SOUL) to his cross and crucified them there…” (Galatians 5 NLT).

THE DEAD SOUL has “NO” spiritual ability, spiritual influence, spiritual connection, or SPIRITUAL LIFE.  The BODY, without God’s HOLY SPIRIT is DEAD. “…the body without (apart from) the spirit is dead…” (James 2:26 KJV) “…[YOU ARE] DEAD in [your] … sin” (Ephesians 2:1 KJV). “…When you [are a DEAD SOUL]… the RESULTS are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these…” (Galatians 5 NLT).

Without God, the HOLY SPIRIT, all MANKIND has is a DEAD SOUL or SINFUL NATURE, which creates a BARRIER or CHASM between them and God, the HOLY SPIRIT. “…The trouble is with me, for I am all too human (body & dead soul), a slave to sin … I want to do what is right, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do what I hate. So I am not the one doing wrong; it is sin living in me that does it.  And I know that nothing good lives in me (the good HOLY Spirit does not live in me), that is, in my sinful nature (DEAD SOUL). I want to do what is right, but I can’t. I want to do what is good, but I don’t…” (Romans 7:14-25 NLT). 

Mankind CAN NOT choose a SPIRITUAL lifestyle, even if they wanted to. They possess NO SPIRITUAL LIFE or SPIRITUAL POWER to live FREE from SIN. "... I want to do what is right, but I can’t. I want to do what is good, but I don’t…” (Romans 7:14-25 NLT). “… We know … that the whole world lies under the power (BONDAGE, DICTATORSHIP) of the evil one” (1 John 5:19 RSV).

The DEAD SOUL has "NO" Spiritual POWER to make themselves right with God. “…I want to do what is right, but I can’t. I want to do what is good, but I don’t….I don’t want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway. …” (Romans 7:14-25 NLT). “…Who will free me from this life that is dominated by SIN? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord (the WORD OF GOD)…” (Romans 7:14-25 NLT).  

   Like OIL and WATER; HOLINESS and SIN “DON’T and WON’T mix. Thus, the Holy Spirit separates from man. “…GOD IS SPIRIT…” (John 4:24 KJV). “… [SINFUL humanity’s] … iniquities …separated [them]… from God… …” (Isaiah 59:2 KJV).

God is divinely SPIRIT and humans are naturally SINFUL. “…GOD IS SPIRIT…” (John 4:24 KJV). “…I am all too human, a slave to sin.. …” (Romans 7:14-25 NLT).

God, the SPIRIT could NOT mix or bond himself to SINFUL man. Therefore, God, the Holy Spirit, could NOT have a relationship with SINFUL man, even though he desired too. “…Apart from Me (Jesus, the WORD OF GOD), you can do nothing…” (John 15:5 NIV).   “…by the GRACE of God I am what I am…” (1 Corinthians 15:10 NIV).

God, the HOLY Spirit and SINFUL mankind are SO DIFFERENT, by NATURE, there is a CHASM between THEM. “…between us (the spiritual world) and you  (the natural world) [there is] a great chasm (barrier) [that] has been set in place…” (Luke 16:22-25 NASB). “… [Their] … iniquities (sin) …separated [them]… from God… …” (Isaiah 59:2 KJV). “…and SIN, when it is finished, BRINGETH FORTH DEATH…” (James 1:13-15 NLT). “…The wages of sin is death…” (Romans 6:23 KJV).

Without the HOLY SPIRIT mankind “IS” “…separated from the [HOLY] LIFE of God…” (Ephesians 4:18 NIV). “…It is the [Holy] SPIRIT who gives LIFE…” (John 6:63 NASB).

Before you are SAVED and RESTORED, “…YOU… [are] DEAD in your … sins…” (Ephesians 2:1 NIV). “…YOU [are] dead in your sins and ... [IT IS]…God [the Holy Spirit] [that MAKES] you ALIVE [through] Christ (the WORD OF GOD).  [God, the Holy Spirit forgives and cleanses you from]… all [your]… sins…” (Colossians 2:13 NIV). God, the HOLY SPIRIT, makes “… [you]… ALIVE! … [You]… were DEAD in transgressions…” (Ephesians 2:5 NIV). Like the prodigal son, “… [YOU were]…. DEAD and [you have been MADE]… ALIVE AGAIN; [you were]… lost and [have been]… found…” (Luke 15:24 NIV).

 “….YOU (the SINFUL nature YOU or your DEAD SOUL) USED TO LIVE in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying (dominated by) the devil—the commander of the [sinful] powers (influences) in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts (SOULS) of those who refuse to obey God (or follow his instructions and guidelines). All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations (effects) of our sinful nature (DEAD SOUL). ….just like everyone else…” (Ephesian 2:2-3 NLT).

God is SPIRIT. God is a SPIRITUAL being. God, the SPIRIT is TOTALLY separated and SET APART from SIN and SINFUL humanity.  

His HOLINESS means God is TOTALLY set apart and FREE from SIN of ANY kind and sin's INFLUENCE or EFFECT!! Thus, THE SPIRIT CAN’T – not by CHOICE- MIX or FELLOWSHIP with SIN at ALL!!

 “…what fellowship (COMMON GROUND) hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion  (COMMON GROUND) hath light with darkness? And what concord (COMMON GROUND) hath Christ (the Word of TRUTH) with Belial (the DEVIL or Father of LIES)? Or what part (COMMON GROUND) hath he that believeth (depends upon God) with an infidel (one who doesn’t depend upon God)?” (2 Corinthians 6:14-15 KJV). SIN and HOLINESS DON'T and CAN'T MIX.

The bottom line is that God, the HOLY SPIRIT wanted to communicate DIVINE LOVE to mankind. He wanted to RESTORE them back into a HOLY UNION with him, so he CREATED a WAY to DO IT. “…God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son…” (John 3:16 KJV). God “…spared not his own Son, [in order to express DIVINE LOVE] but delivered him up for us all?” (Romans 8:32 KJV). ^“….God SHOWED HIS GREAT LOVE FOR US by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners…” (Romans 5:7-9 NLT).  “…God is love…” (1 John 4:4-8 KJV).). “…not that we loved God, but that [god] loved us...” (1 John 4:10 KJV). “…herein is love, not that we loved God, but that [God] loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation (substitute, intervention) for our sins.” (1 John 4:10 KJV).   “…There is no greater LOVE …” (John 15:13 NLT).

“…If any man be in Christ, he is a NEW creature: old things are passed away; behold, ALL THINGS are become NEW…” (2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV).  “…God has given [you] HIS Spirit as PROOF that … he [dwells]…in [you]…” (1 John 4:13 NLT “…God … SENT forth the Spirit of His Son “INTO” [YOUR]… HEARTS…” (Galatians 4:6 NASB). “…The Holy Spirit gives birth to [every aspect of] SPIRITUAL LIFE…” (John 3:6 NLT).

“…The invisible [Holy Spirit]…from the creation of the world is …clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made (making mankind whole again or making them into new creations) …” (Romans 1:20 KJV). “…he  (the invisible holy spirit) doeth the works (making “new” creations)…” (John 14:10 KJV). “…What we now SEE (the FRUIT of the Holy Spirit, which should be confirmed IN and THROUGH his people) did not come from anything that can be SEEN…” (Hebrews 11 NLT).

 “…God is not human …” (Numbers 23:19 NIV). “…GOD IS SPIRIT…” (John 4:24 KJV). “…. [Yet], YOU THOUGHt i, (God, the HOLY SPIRIT) was EXACTLY like you….” (Psalms 50:21 NIV).

God is SPIRIT, but God is “NOT” human. God EXPRESSES his DIVINE nature and DIVINE power through his indwelling Holy Spirit.

God SPEAKS to his people through Jesus, HIS WORD and confirms HIS WORD through signs, wonders, and miracles, such as SALVATION and TRANSFORMATION. “…If any man be in Christ, he is a NEW creature: old things are passed away; behold, ALL THINGS are become NEW…” (2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV).  

The indwelling HOLY SPIRIT is God’s WAY of bonding and reconnecting to mankind again once they are SAVED by the POWER of his WORD. “… [The WORD of GOD]... is the power of God at work (through the CONFIRMING work of the HOLY SPIRIT), saving everyone who believes (depends upon the word)…” (Romans 1:16 NLT “…God has given [you] HIS [Holy] Spirit as PROOF that … he [dwells]…in [you]…” (1 John 4:13 NLT “…God … SENT forth the [Holy[ Spirit of His Son “INTO” [Y]OUR… HEARTS (SOULS)…” (Galatians 4:6 NASB).“…He that is JOINED unto the Lord is ONE Spirit…” (1 Corinthians 6:17 KJV).

God’s indwelling Holy Spirit RETURNS to UNITE mankind’s BODY and DEAD SOUL to God’s HOLY SPIRIT again. God “….made [you]… ALIVE [again] with Christ (the WORD)… …” (Ephesians 2:5 NIV). “…May God himself, the God who makes everything holy and whole, make you holy and whole, put you together [again]—spirit, soul, and body …” (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 MSG).

 “…For Christ … died for sins ONCE for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us [home again] to God…” (1 Peter 3:18 NASB). “… I will bring them home again,” says the Lord….” (HOSEA 11 NLT). “… [He sent the] …one … who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus…” (1 Timothy 2:5 NLT).

God, the HOLY SPIRIT dwells in YOU and becomes a PART of you again. “…The [Holy] Spirit of God dwell in you…” (Romans 8:9 KJV). “…Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?” (1 Corinthians 3:16 KJV). “…God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people…” (2 Corinthians 6:16 KJV). 

BELIEVERS MUST CHOOSE TO FOLLOW THE INVISIBLE, INDWELLING HOLY SPIRIT. “…choose LIFE…” (Deuteronomy 30:19 KJV). THE HOLY SPIRIT WILL EMPOWER THEM TO LIVE SET APART AND FREED FROM SIN. GOD IS NOT MAGIC AND HE IS NOT A GENIE IN THE BOTTLE. FOLLOWING AND DEPENDING UPON GOD, THE HOLY SPIRIT, IS A CHOICE.

GOD MAKES YOU WHOLE. IT IS A SPIRITUAL WORK DONE "IN" AND "THROUGH" YOU, WHICH DISPLAYS AND CONFIRMS GOD'S POWER.

“…the Father that dwelleth in me (or in his people), he doeth (the Holy Spirit doeth) the [confirming] works [“in” and “through” them]…” (John 14:10 KJV).“…the ...HOLY SPIRIT ... is the SOURCE of [WHOLENESS & RESTORATION] …God ...does the work IN and THROUGH all of us who are his. The HOLY SPIRIT (that indwells within God’s people) DISPLAYS God’s power THROUGH each of [them] … (1 Corinthians 12:4-11 NLT).

“…Since the CREATION of the world God’s INVISIBLE QUALITIES … have been “CLEARLY SEEN”, being UNDERSTOOD FROM WHAT HAS BEEN MADE…” (Romans 1:20 NIV). “…what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen.” (Hebrews 11 NLT).

“…God is not human …” (Numbers 23:19 NIV). “…GOD IS SPIRIT…” (John 4:24 KJV).“…May God (the HOLY SPIRIT) himself, the God who MAKES everything holy and whole, MAKE you holy and whole, put you together [again]—spirit, soul, and body …” (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 MSG).“…God’s INVISIBLE QUALITIES … have been “CLEARLY SEEN”, being UNDERSTOOD FROM WHAT HAS BEEN MADE…” (Romans 1:20 NIV). 

“…If any man be in Christ, he is …[MADE INTO] a NEW creature …” (2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV). “… [because] … all things are … [MADE] … NEW…” (2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV). “…I will put a new spirit “in” you  …” (Ezekiel 36:26 NLT).
