HOLY LOVE
DOES NOT GET ANGRY EASILY
“…Love
is patient, love is kind. It does
not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It
does not dishonor others, it is
not self-seeking, It is not easily angered, It keeps no record
of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil
but rejoices with the truth. It always protects,
always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres, Love
never fails…” (1
Corinthians 13: 4-8 NIV).
*
“…God is LOVE…” (1 John 4:4-8 KJV). “…God is [REAL]… LOVE…” (1
John 4:4-8 KJV). “…LOVE …IS NOT EASILY ANGERED…” (1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 NIV).
Anger
is an emotion of displeasure that stems from hurt or offense, and is often expressed
in acts of revenge, retaliation, or retribution. “…[HOLY]… LOVE …IS NOT EASILY ANGERED…” (1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 NIV).
It
is normal to get angry as a response to pain, offense, loss, or betrayal
(imagined or real).
However,
angry can become sinful when it turns into violation, lack of love, wrongdoing,
long-term wrath, constant provoking, unrelenting retaliation, ongoing conflict,
and unforgiveness toward another. “…[HOLY]…LOVE …IS NOT EASILY ANGERED…” (1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 NIV).
Inappropriate
expressions of anger are “NEVER” justified.
God’s
HOLY LOVE is not easily angered. Through his MERCY, anger is restrained and
expressed through the richness of his acts of GRACE.
HOLY
LOVE connects people and empowers temperance, through the indwelling fruit of
the Holy Spirit, instead of anger. “…But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy,
peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance (restraint)…”
(Galatians 5:22-23 KJV). “…Ye shall
know them by their fruits…” (Matthew 7:16 KJV).
God’s
HOLY LOVE patiently COVERS the weaknesses, faults, short comings, differences,
mistakes, and offenses of others without readily expressing anger. “…[HOLY] … love covereth a multitude of sins…”
(Proverbs 10:12, 1 Peter 4:8 ASV).
God’s people commit many provocations
against HIM, but God STILL does NOT get angry easy. “…LOVE
…IS NOT EASILY ANGERED…” (1
Corinthians 13: 4-8 NIV).
Jesus
got angry once, but he was angry at their HARD HEART? “…Jesus went into the synagogue
again and noticed a man with a deformed hand. Since
it was the Sabbath, Jesus’ enemies watched him closely. If he healed the man’s
hand, they planned to accuse him of working on the Sabbath. Jesus said to the
man with the deformed hand, “Come and stand in front of
everyone.” Then he turned to his critics and asked, “Does the law permit good deeds on the Sabbath, or is it a day for
doing evil? Is this a day to save life or to destroy it?” But they wouldn’t answer him. He
looked around at them angrily and was deeply
saddened by their hard hearts. Then he said to the man, “Hold
out your hand.” So the man held out his hand, and it
was restored! At once the Pharisees went away and met
with the supporters of Herod to plot how to kill Jesus…”
(Mark 3:1-6 NLT).
A HARD HEART is a
condition that influences how you choose to behave, which is usually separated
from God’s behavior or GRACE, TRUTH, RESTORATION, and LOVE. “…
Live
no longer as the Gentiles do, for they are hopelessly confused. Their minds are full of
darkness; they wander
far from the life God gives because they have closed their minds and hardened their
hearts against him. They have no sense of
shame. They live for lustful pleasure and eagerly practice every kind of
impurity…” (Ephesians 4:17-19 NLT).
SIN is the culprit. “… Be careful
then, dear brothers and sisters. Make
sure that your own hearts are not evil and
unbelieving (sinful), turning you away
from the living God…” (Hebrews 3:12 NLT).
Sin’s main job is to
kill, steal, and destroy the hearts of men by hardening their hearts through
the deceitfulness of SINFUL beliefs and behaviors.“ …The
thief cometh not, but for to steal,
and to kill, and to destroy…” (John 10:10 KJV).
“ … When his heart
was lifted up, and his mind hardened
in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took
his glory from him…” (Daniel 5:20 KJV).
God through Jesus
Christ fed 4,000 with seven loaves of bread and 5,000 with five loaves of bread
and two fish, but the disciples’ HARD HEART blinded them from seeing the TRUTH
right in front of their EYES. “… The
disciples had forgotten to bring any food. They had only one loaf of bread with
them in the boat. As they were crossing the lake, Jesus warned them, “Watch out! Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and of Herod.” At this they began to argue with each other because they hadn’t
brought any bread. Jesus knew what they were saying, so
he said, “Why are you arguing about having no bread?
Don’t you know or understand even yet? Are your hearts too hard to take it in? ‘You have eyes—can’t you see? You have ears—can’t
you hear?’ Don’t you remember anything at all? When I fed the
5,000 with five loaves of bread, how many baskets of leftovers did you pick up
afterward?” “Twelve,” they said. “And when I fed the 4,000 with seven loaves, how many large baskets
of leftovers did you pick up?” “Seven,” they said. “Don’t you understand yet?” he asked them…”
(Mark 8: 14-21 NLT).
“… Be
careful … Make sure that your
own hearts are not evil and unbelieving (sinful)…” (Hebrews 3:12
NLT).
God gets angry at the
HARDENED HEART, which is produced by SIN.
“… He looked around at them angrily and was deeply saddened by their hard hearts. …”
(Mark 3:1-6 NLT).
God
focuses on loving his children and he cares DEEPLY about the condition of their
hearts. “…The Lord loves His people …”
(2 Chronicles 2:11 NASB). “...God sees not as man
sees, for man looks at the outward
appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart…”(1 Samuel 16:7
NASB). God zooms in on the “…hidden man of the heart…” (1 Peter 3:4 KJV).
“For from within,
out of the heart of man, proceed evil
thoughts… wickedness…[greed for material wealth]... All these evil things come from within,
and defile a person.” (Mark 7:21-23 KJV). The heart “…is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked…who can know it
[except God?” (Jeremiah 17:9 KJV).
The
hard heart is a sin-sick condition. God
gets ANGRY at SIN and its terminal, negative impact on the heart of mankind. SIN
separates people from HOLINESS naturally.
God loves mankind, but
because of his HOLY nature he naturally separates from them. Holiness naturally separates from SIN like oil and water
naturally separate from one another.
The SEPARATION stems
from the barrier SIN naturally creates with HOLINESS. “…Your INIQUITIES (SIN) have separated (created a barrier) between you and your God (HOLY) …”
(Isaiah 59:2 KJV).
God’s
holiness naturally separates from SIN. God is HOLY. “… I AM HOLY…” (1 Peter 1:14-16 KJV). And, “There is none holy as the Lord…” (1
Samuel 2:2 KJV).
“… [Therefore]…
there is none righteous, no,
not one…” (Romans 3:10 KJV). They “… [have ALL become]…..unclean (unholy) and
[their] righteousnesses
are as filthy rags….” (Isaiah 64:6 KJV). Thus, “…All
have sinned and fallen
short of the glory of God…” (Romans 3:23). “… Jesus said to them, “… those who … need
a physician
… are sick
… sinners…”
(Mark 2:17 NASB).
“… He looked around at them angrily and was deeply saddened by their hard hearts. …”
(Mark 3:1-6 NLT). “…Therefore, come out from their midst and be separate,” says the Lord.“ And do not touch what is unclean…”
(2 Corinthians 6:13-17 NASB). “…Be holy, because I am holy…” (1 Peter 1:16 KJV). “…Before he made the world,
God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. …”
(Ephesians 1:3-8 NLT).
God gets ANGRY at sin. God
gets ANGRY at sin’s influence. God gets ANGRY at sin’s thievery, murderous
intentions, and destruction. God gets ANGRY at sin’s impact on the HEART of
man. “… He looked around at them angrily and
was deeply saddened
by their hard hearts. …”
(Mark 3:1-6 NLT).
God “….is …not willing that any
should perish, but
that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9 KJV). “….God … [encourages]… all men every where to REPENT…”
(Acts 17:30 KJV). “…REPENT YE, AND BELIEVE (depend upon) the gospel…”
(Mark 1:15 KJV).
God ALWAYS loves his
people and he is NOT easily angered with them. It is SIN that angers him. “…The trouble is with me, for I am all too
human, a slave to sin. I don’t really
understand myself, for I want to do what is right (choose the right way),
but I don’t do it. Instead, I do what I hate. So I
am not the one doing wrong; it is sin living in me that does it. And
I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to do
what is right, but I can’t. I want to do what is good,
but I don’t. …I [am] …a slave to the sin
that is … within me. Who will free me…” (Romans
7:14-25 NLT).
Out of HOLY LOVE God
sent his Son to FREE his people from SIN. “…Who
will free me
from this life that is dominated by SIN? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our
Lord…” (Romans
7:14-25 NLT). “If the Son therefore shall make you free, you SHALL be free indeed” (John 8:36 KJV). “... [You have been] made free from sin….” (Romans 6:18 KJV).
“…BY GRACE have ye been saved THROUGH FAITH…” (Ephesians 2:8-9 ASV). “…The
grace of
our Lord was poured out (transferred) on [mankind]… abundantly, along with
faith and love that
are in Christ Jesus…” (1
Timothy 1:13-14 NIV). “…God’s love has been poured
out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us…” (Romans 5:5 NIV). “…God has sent forth the
Spirit
of His Son “INTO”
OUR HEARTS…” (Galatians 4:6
NASB). “…Jesus Christ IS IN YOU…” (2
Corinthians 13:5 KJV).
“…Christ
in you, …”
(Colossians 1:27 KJV). “…The
Spirit of God dwell in you…” (Romans 8:9 KJV). “…if Christ be in you…” (Romans
8:10 KJV). “…if
the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you…” (Romans 8:11
KJV). “…Christ
liveth in me…” (Galatians 2:20 KJV). “…until Christ be formed in you…”
(Galatians 4:19 KJV). “…The Spirit of God
dwelleth in you” (1 Corinthians 3:16 KJV). “…The
temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you…” (1 Corinthians
6:19 KJV). “…God hath said, I will dwell in
them…” (2 Corinthians 6:16 KJV). “…Where
the Spirit of
the Lord is, there is liberty (freedom)…”
(2 Corinthians 3:17 KJV).
In addition, God, “…GIVE[S]… you a new heart …. [He]…will take out your
stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart…”
(Ezekiel 36:26 NLT). “…Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are
passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV).
However, it is up to
YOU to, “…Choose
you
this day whom ye will serve….” (Joshua 24:15 KJV). “… He
looked around at them angrily and was deeply saddened by their hard hearts. …”
(Mark 3:1-6 NLT). “…God is love…” (1
John 4:4-8 KJV). “…LOVE …IS NOT EASILY ANGERED…” (1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 NIV).
“...He careth for you.” (1 Peter 5:7 KJV).
“… Be careful
… Make sure that your own hearts are not evil and unbelieving (hardened by SIN)…”
(Hebrews 3:12 NLT).
“…He
that believeth on him is not condemned: but HE THAT BELIEVETH NOT IS CONDEMNED ALREADY,
because HE HATH
NOT BELIEVED in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And THIS IS THE CONDEMNATION, that light
is come into the world, and MEN LOVED DARKNESS RATHER THAN LIGHT, because THEIR DEEDS WERE
EVIL. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the
light, lest his deeds should be reproved…”
(John 3:18-20 KJV).
When God’s people
CHOOSE sin instead of getting ANGRY at them; he gets angry at sin and wages war
on sin by correcting. “…Choose
you
this day whom ye will serve….” (Joshua 24:15 KJV). “...For whom the Lord loveth he CORRECTETH……”
(Proverbs 3:12 KJV). “If you are not disciplined – and everyone
undergoes discipline – then you are not legitimate, not true sons
and daughters [of God] at all” (Hebrews 12:8 NIV).
“…LOVE …IS NOT EASILY ANGERED…” (1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 NIV). HOLY LOVE will focus on
correction so his children “…might
be partakers (participants) [in]… his holiness….” (Hebrews 12:10 KJV).
God wages war on SIN,
especially when it STILL impacts the CHOICES his children make. He has SET them
FREE. “…Who will free me from this life that is dominated by SIN? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our
Lord…” (Romans
7:14-25 NLT).
Jesus is the WAY to FREEDOM. “If
the Son therefore shall make you free, you SHALL be free indeed” (John 8:36 KJV). “... [You have been] made free from sin….” (Romans 6:18 KJV). “Jesus saith…I am
the way,
the truth, and the life…”
(John 14:6 KJV).
Thus, his people NOW have the
FREEDOM to CHOOSE the right WAY. . “…Choose you this day whom ye will serve….”
(Joshua 24:15 KJV). “… I have set before
you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose
life…”
(Deuteronomy 30:19 KJV). “Jesus saith…I
am …the
life…” (John 14:6
KJV).
“… Jesus said to the man with
the deformed hand, “Come
and stand in front of everyone.”
Then he turned to his critics and asked, “Does the law permit good deeds on the Sabbath, or is it a day for
doing evil? Is this a day to save life or to destroy it?” But they wouldn’t answer him…Then he said to the man, “Hold out your hand.” So the man held out his
hand, and it was restored! At once the Pharisees went
away and met with the supporters of Herod to plot how to kill Jesus…”
(Mark 3:1-6 NLT).
“…
He looked around at them angrily and was deeply saddened by their hard hearts. …”
(Mark 3:1-6 NLT). WHY did Jesus LOOK at them with ANGER?
His
anger was NOT about a desire to retaliate or get revenge on their unjust
attitude toward healing the man with the deformed man on the Sabbath. “… He
looked around at them angrily …”
(Mark 3:1-6 NLT). “…LOVE
…IS NOT EASILY ANGERED…” (1
Corinthians 13: 4-8 NIV).
He
was saddened about their “lack of love” for the man with the deformed hand OVER
keeping the Sabbath or tradition.
“… He …was deeply saddened
by their hard hearts. …”
(Mark 3:1-6 NLT). “…God is LOVE…” (1 John 4:4-8 KJV). “….as I have loved
you… love one another ….”
(John 13:34 ASV). “…He that loveth not knoweth
not God…” (1 John 4:7-8 ASV).
“…The Lord said to Moses, “How long will
these people treat me with contempt (disrespect)?”
(Daniel 14:11 NIV). “…My people would not listen to me.
They kept doing whatever they wanted, following
the stubborn desires of their evil hearts (hardened
hearts). They went
backward instead of forward”
(Jeremiah 7:24 NLT). “…The people replied, “Don’t waste your breath. We will continue to live as we
want to, stubbornly following our own evil desires (hardened hearts)…”
(JEREMIAH 18:12 NLT).
Their HARD HEART made them blind and
caused them to perceive his act of MERCY as a violation against the Sabbath
day. “…“Does the law permit good deeds on the Sabbath, or is it a
day for doing evil? Is this a day to save
life or to destroy it?” But they wouldn’t answer him…
…” (Mark 3:1-6 NLT).
They
didn’t RECOGNIZE the love of God in Jesus’ act of GRACE. They choose to attack
Jesus’ instead for violating the law of the Sabbath. “…Does the law permit good
deeds on the Sabbath, or is it a day for doing evil? Is this a day to save life
or to destroy it?”
But they wouldn’t answer him…Then he said to the man, “Hold out your hand.” So the man held out his hand,
and it was restored! …”
(Mark 3:1-6 NLT).
“…At once the Pharisees went
away and met with the supporters of Herod to plot how to kill Jesus…”
(Mark 3:1-6 NLT).
It
is CLEAR the anger Jesus expressed was selfless and on behalf of another (the
man with the deformed hand); compared to the anger of retaliation mankind usually
expresses, which is selfish and on behalf of their OWN self (violating their
Sabbath day). “… He …was deeply saddened by their hard hearts. …”
(Mark 3:1-6 NLT).
“…Does the law permit good deeds on the Sabbath, or is it a day for
doing evil? Is this a day to save life or to destroy it?” But they wouldn’t answer him…Then
he said to the man, “Hold
out your hand.”
So the man held out his hand, and it was restored! …”
(Mark 3:1-6 NLT).
“…
He looked around at them angrily and was deeply saddened by their hard hearts. …”
(Mark 3:1-6 NLT). Jesus was angry at SIN and its impact on the people. It
saddened him that SIN had caused such deadly, moral decade witnessed in the
hardening of their hearts to LOVE.
A
hardened heart is a callous heart which sprouts forth moral blindness,
deafness, and spiritual death. “…For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder,
adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander”
(Matthew 15:18-19 NIV).
A
HARDENED HEART destroys love and affection toward others. “…Does the law permit good deeds on the Sabbath, or is it a day for
doing evil? Is this a day to save life or to destroy it?” …”
(Mark 3:1-6 NLT).
The
HARDENED HEART can’t SEE love; can’t PERCIEVE truth; can’t properly use the
SENSES, and defaults to SIN every time. “… Though he had done so many miracles before
them, yet they believed not on him: That the saying of Esaias the prophet
might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to
whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed? Therefore they could not
believe, because that Esaias said again, He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their
heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with
their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them….”
(John 12:37-40 NLT).
“Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees,
hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward,
but are within full of dead men's bones (hard hearts), and of all uncleanness…
” (Matthew 23:27 KJV). “…“You skillfully ….hold on to your own tradition...”
(Mark 7:9 NLT). “…So
the Pharisees and teachers of religious law asked him,
“Why don’t your disciples follow our age-old tradition?
Jesus replied, “You hypocrites! … [Your]
worship is a farce… For you ignore God’s law (of LOVE) and substitute your own
tradition’…” (Mark 7:6-8 NLT).
Again,
“…the Pharisees and teachers of religious
law asked him, “Why don’t your disciples follow our age-old
tradition? Jesus
replied, “You
hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you, for he wrote, ‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship is a farce, for they teach man-made
ideas as commands from God.’ For you ignore God’s law and substitute your own tradition’…”
(Mark 7:6-8 NLT).
“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord,
Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my
Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day,
Lord, Lord, have
we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done
many wonderful works? And
then will I profess unto them, I never
knew you (God is love): depart from me, ye that work iniquity” (Mark 7:21-23 KJV).
“…Every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love (1
John 4:4-8 KJV).
“…“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees,
hypocrites, because you travel around on sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he
becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves” (Mark
23:15 “…Their worship is a farce, for they teach [and learn] man-made ideas as
commands from God…”
(Mark 7:6-8 NLT). NASB).
“…
He looked around at them angrily and was deeply saddened by their hard hearts. …”
(Mark 3:1-6 NLT). “…God is LOVE…” (1 John 4:4-8 KJV). “…God is [REAL]… LOVE…” (1
John 4:4-8 KJV). “…LOVE …IS NOT EASILY ANGERED…” (1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 NIV).
HOLY
LOVE does not get angry at YOU. HOLY LOVE does get angry about SIN, its
influence, its impact, and its destruction. It is a SELFLESS anger.
“…
I want you to understand this mystery,
dear brothers and sisters,
so that you will not feel proud about yourselves. Some of the people of Israel have hard hearts…”
(Romans 11:25 NLT). “… Their minds are
full of darkness; they wander far from the life God gives because they have
closed their minds and hardened their hearts against him…” (Ephesians
4:18 NLT).
“…
Be careful
… Make sure that your own hearts are not evil and unbelieving (hardened by SIN)…”
(Hebrews 3:12 NLT).
“…Choose
you
this day whom ye will serve….” (Joshua 24:15 KJV). “… choose life…” (Deuteronomy 30:19 KJV). “Jesus
saith…I am
…the life…” (John 14:6 KJV).
At once the Pharisees went
away [ANGRY]… and met with the supporters of Herod to plot how to kill Jesus
(retaliate or get revenge because they felt he broke the Sabbath; viewed as an
act of selfishness and NOT love)…”
(Mark 3:1-6 NLT).
“…
He looked around at them angrily and was deeply saddened by their hard hearts. …”
(Mark 3:1-6 NLT). “…God is LOVE…” (1 John 4:4-8 KJV). “…LOVE
…IS NOT EASILY ANGERED…” (1
Corinthians 13: 4-8 NIV).
