CHAPTER 8
PART 2
GOD MAKES YOU HOLY
THROUGH DISCIPLINE

“…WHOM THE LORD LOVETH HE CHASTENETH (DISCIPLINES)…” (HEBREW 12:6 KJV).

“…be ye holy, for I am holy…” (1 Peter 1:16 KJV).
*

THE HOLY SPIRIT MAKES YOU ABLE TO BECOME...
When God inflated your “spiritual balloon,” that new inflated spirit waits for transformation opportunities in order to initiate the beginning manifestation of the new creation.
This is how the Holy Spirit enables you to actually become what you already are; a new creation in Christ Jesus. Transformation is a very vulnerable time for the caterpillar, therefore the cocoon guarantees one kind of safety or security, but not from the caterpillar’s own internal issues or sicknesses.
YOU CHOOSE
Even in the cocoon, the caterpillar could die in the process or abort the process. The believer can also choose with their WILLlife or death” and die in the process or abort the transformation process (Deuteronomy 30:18-20). Transformation is a very vulnerable time for the believer too.
However, they are guaranteed to be safe “in” Christ, but their  own personal “WILL” issues, or sicknesses, can cause them to, on their own volition to,“….[fall] away…” “…sin willfully…” “…again [become] entangled [with the world]…” “…[fall] away from grace…” or commit a “…sin unto death….” (Hebrews 6:4-8, Hebrews 10:25-31, 2 Peter 2:20, Galatians 5:4, 1 John 5:16-1 KJV).
I WILL DO WHAT "I" WANT...
God does his part to keep you safe “in” Christ; however, even after you receive salvation and all its truth you can, on your own volition, return to your sinful way of life. God keeps his role in the YADA relationship, but you may mentally or willfully CHOOSE not to.
Further, you can CHOOSE to do his will or your own at any time. Jesus said, Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.  Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?  And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity (Matthew 7:21-23KJV).
YOU STRAY FROM THE TRUTH
Scripture assures us of God’s role in our salvation journey and it provides evidence that even with all of God’s love and guarantees the professing believer can willfully CHOOSE to stray.Brethren, if any of you do err (stray) from the truth, and one convert him;  Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.. (James 5:19-20 KJV).
The believer is safe and secure “in” Christ and God will not ever put you out (John 10:28, Romans 8:15, Philippians 1:6). But just like you abandon a spouse, after making vows to them, you can abandon God.
At some point, when you “…[fall] away…” or …”keep on sinning….” it may be wise to ask yourself if you have genuinely received him as Lord and Savior. It may not be the case, but some believe if you turn away from Christ maybe you never really trusted him in the first place. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. (1 John 2:19 KJV).
IF YOU CONTINUE TO SIN; ITS OBVIOUS YOU DON'T KNOW GOD
Discipline provides an opportunity for you to give God your whole heart and not just lip service (Isaiah 29:13; Mark 7:6). The bible tells you to be sure of your salvation and that you are “in the faith…” (2 Corinthians 13:5 KJV).  Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him." (1 John 3:6 KJV).
What are some of the ways you personally examine yourself to evaluate if you are “in the faith?”  One way you can know if you are “in the faith” is the way you love (1 John 4:4-8). In addition, there is always the evidence of Godly fruit in your words, actions, or thinking (Galatians 5:22-23). Also others will see it too (1 John 4:13, Matthew 7:16-20).
God disciplines you so you won’t simply “do” Christianity, but so you will actually “become” authentically Christ-like. " Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity (Matthew 23:27-28 KJV).
Jesus died for you and willingly gave up his entire life so you could go free. It cost Jesus something and holiness will cost you something too. Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren” (1 John 3:16 KJV).
Yes, it will cost you something (Luke 9:23-26, 14:24-33) similar to what it cost Jesus. However, laying down your life for Christ is not an equal exchange. You get the better end of the deal.  “…for Christ …suffered for sins …, THE JUST FOR THE UNJUST….” (1 Peter 3:18 KJV).
God’s transformation processes often uses trials-and-tribulations that make believers feel unsafe; even in a cocoon of safety “in” Christ. These unsafe feelings make them mentally and emotionally vulnerable to the attacks of the enemy. However, the bible says, These things I have spoken to you, that in me ye may have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33 KJV).
GALATIANS 6:9
God’s transformation trials-and-tribulations can ignite fear, doubt, questions, loneliness, hopelessness, weariness, and the experiences can last for days, weeks, months, or even years. Don’t give up!!! And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” (Galatians 6:9 KJV).
Undergoing God’s transformation trials and tribulations require endurance, perseverance, long-suffering, patience, daily living by faith, and long-term trust in God. However, Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. (James 1:12 KJV).
YOUR WILL OR GOD'S
God’s transformation trials-and-tribulations intend to humble you, make you holy, and direct you to submit to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Submitting your whole self to the Lordship of Christ is also one of the most challenging of all lessons. It us God’s custom to “… humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.” (Deuteronomy 8:2 KJV). Keeping God’s command reveals his Lordship over your life.
