CHOICES: CHOOSING HUMAN EXPERTISE
“…The foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men…” (1 Corinthians
1:25 KJV).
*
An expert is someone who has special skills and knowledge in a
particular area, subject, or field. God is omniscient; which means he KNOWS
everything in every area or field, and on every subject. He is the ULTIMATE
expert. “… God that made the world and all things therein…”
(Acts 17:24 KJV). “… Known unto God are all his
works from the beginning of the world…”
(Acts 15:18 KJV).
An expert has honed those skills and knowledge through years of
experience or from being trained by consistent and ongoing practice. All things
were MADE by God; the ULTIMATE expert. “… [The] … Lord alone; thou hast made heaven, the
heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things
that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all…” (Nehemiah 9:6 KJV). “… Hath not my hand made all these things?” (Acts
7:50 KJV).
An expert, therefore, could also be considered a professional if
they have acquired certain knowledge and skills through years of study and
practice in a particular area, subject, or field. God the ULTIMATE expert has knowledgably
and skillfully MADE “ALL” things. “…For all
those things hath mine hand made…”
(Isaiah 66:2 KJV). “… For thou hast made
all these things…” (Jeremiah 14:22 KJV). “… All things were made by him; and without him was not any
thing made that was made…” (John 1:3 KJV).
Most people SEEK the opinion or advice of experts, when attempting
to make certain CHOICES and DECISIONS. However, God the ULTIMATE expert will propel
those CHOICES and DECISIONS beyond the imagination. “…IF YE ABIDE IN ME, AND MY WORDS ABIDE IN
YOU, YE SHALL ASK WHAT YE WILL, AND IT SHALL
BE DONE…” (JOHN 15:7 KJV). “…ask anything according to His
will, He hears … [you]…”
(1 John 5:14-15 NASB). “… [He]… IS “ABLE” to do exceeding abundantly above all that [you]… ask or think, according to the POWER that worketh IN
[them]…” (Ephesians 3:20 KJV).
It is safe to say, an expert is someone who has comprehensive and
authoritative knowledge and skills gained from experience and years of
practice. “…O Lord, You
have searched me and known me … Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?
…
…” (Psalms 139:1-14 NASB).
Experts are very useful when their knowledge is credible and their
experience is relevant. God, the ULTIMATE expert is
credible and relevant in his expertise. “…O Lord, You
have searched me and known me.
I am fearfully and wonderfully made; … Wonderful are Your works, And my
soul knows it very well…”
(Psalms 139:1-14 NASB).
However, even with years of experience and training, an expert’s
skills and knowledge are mostly subjective and limited to the human realm. But
the ULTIMATE expert does the same thing, yet objectively and unlimited, in the
supernatural realm. “… [Expertly] …. sustaining all
things by his powerful word…” (Hebrews 1:3 NIV).
An expert has done something so long their opinion about a
particular area, subject, or skill holds a LOT of weight when helping someone
MAKE a CHOICE OR DECISION. God, the ULTIMATE expert, says, I “…am watching over MY (expert) WORD TO PERFORM IT…”
(Jeremiah 1:12 NASB). “… [His]… (expert) word … that goeth forth
out of [his]… mouth … it shall accomplish that which [pleases God] … (Isaiah 55:11 KJV). “…Not one of the good (expert) promises which the Lord had made … failed; all came
to pass…” (Joshua 21:45 NASB). “… my
(expert) word
… that goeth forth out of my mouth: …it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent
it…” (Isaiah 55:11 KJV).
To be an expert you are one of the forerunners in a particular
field, on a certain subject, or in a specific area. God, the ULTIMATE expert,
is always the forerunner. “…WE LOVE, because he first
loved us” (1 John 4:19 ASV). “…We
give [God]..only what [he]…first gave us! …” (1 Chronicles 29:14 NLT).
An expert does not dish out opinions in that field, area, or on
that subject; they educate with the facts. God, the ULTIMATE expert, provide
ONLY the facts. “…Thy WORD is truth...” (JOHN
17:17 KJV). “… Jesus saith…I am … the
truth…” (John 14:6 KJV). “…THE WORDS THAT I
SPEAK unto you … they ARE LIFE (truth)…” (John
6:63 KJV).
Because of their consistent and ongoing knowledge, skills, and
practice; an expert stays informed and empowered through trained experience.
God, the ULTIMATE expert never changes. “…NOT that we are sufficient OF OURSELVES to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is
of God…” (2 Corinthians 3:5 KJV). “…I
am the Lord, I change NOT…” (Malachi 3:6 KJV). “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever”
(Hebrews 13:8 NIV).
An expert is the consequence of years and years of experience,
training, and practice in a particular field, on a certain subject, or in a
specific area. God, the ULTIMATE expert is in a category ALL on his OWN. “…
There is NONE like unto thee,
O LORD; thou art GREAT…”
(Jeremiah 10:6 KJV). “… I AM HOLY...” (1
Peter 1:14-16 KJV).
And, “There is none holy as the Lord…” (1
Samuel 2:2 KJV).
The knowledge and experience an expert has gleaned from his or her
area, subject, or field of specialty is usually gained through making mistakes,
failure, hard knocks, tears, or other valuable lessons. God, the ULTIMATE
expert makes NO mistakes. “….God saw every thing he had made……and, behold,
it was very good…” (Genesis 1:31 KJV).
It is these mistakes, failures, hard knocks, tear, and valuable
lessons that have contributed to their expert wisdom. God, the ULTIMATE
expert makes no mistakes and therefore, is ALL wise. “… Blessed be the name of God, forever and ever.
He knows all, does all: He changes the
seasons and guides history, He raises up kings and also
brings them down, he provides both intelligence and
discernment, He opens up the depths, tells secrets,
sees in the dark—light spills out of him! God of all my ancestors, all thanks! all praise! You
made me wise …” (Daniel
2:20-23 MSG). “… God be blessed forever
and ever, For wisdom …
belong to Him…” (Daniel 2:20 NASB).
In addition, it is also their ability to recover from these
mistakes, failures, hard knocks, tears, and valuable lessons that contribute to
their expertise. God, the ULTIMATE expert NEVER changes. “…I
am the Lord, I change NOT…” (Malachi 3:6 KJV). “Jesus Christ is the same … forever”…”
(Hebrews 13:8 NIV).
Experts freely share their difficult experiences with others – so
they will avoid the pitfalls – and it allows them an advantage to grow or build
upon previous experience and knowledge. God, the ULTIMATE expert ALWAYS has
plenty of expertise to SHARE. “…The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”
(Psalms 23 KJV). “…[He] WILL supply all [my need]… according to His riches in
glory in Christ Jesus
(Philippians 4:19 NASB)“…my cup runneth over…”
(Psalms 23:5 KJV). “…God will generously
provide all you need. Then
you will always have everything you
need and plenty left over to share with others…” (2
Corinthians 9:8 NLT).
Experts are good to know; with many counselors there is advantage. God,
the ULTIMATE expert’s counsel will STAND above the rest. “…Without good direction, people lose their
way; the more wise counsel you
follow, the better your chances…” (Proverbs 14:11 MSG). “…Where there is no guidance the people fall, But in abundance of counselors there is
victory…” (Proverbs 14:11 NASB).“…My
counsel (WORD)… SHALL stand, and I will do all my pleasure…”
(Isaiah 46:10 KJV). “…Heaven and
earth shall pass away, but MY WORDS SHALL NOT pass
away (die)…” (Matthew 24:35 KJV).
The best experts are those with GREAT character and who use their
expertise to benefit, not only themselves, but others too. God,
the ULTIMATE expert, has dependable
character and uses his expertise
to benefit others. “…You can ask
for anything
in my name, and I will do it...” (John 14:12-14 NLT). “…Ask and it will be given to you…”
(Matthew 7:7 NIV). “…everyone who asks receives…”
(Matthew 7:8 NIV). “…I will do
whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in
the Son…” (John 14:13 NIV).
God, the ULTIMATE expert, is
ABOVE “ALL” human experts in the world. There is NO human expertise that matches
that of God’s Spiritual expertise. “… [My]…
thoughts are not your thoughts, neither
are your ways my ways…..as
the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your
ways and my thoughts than your thoughts…”
(Isaiah 55:8-9 ASV). “…The foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than
men…” (1 Corinthians 1:25 KJV). . “… There is NONE like unto thee, O LORD; thou art
GREAT…”
(Jeremiah 10:6 KJV).
God, the ULTIMATE
expert, NOT only advises YOU about your CHOICES or DECISIONS, when you come to
him, but HELPS you with them. When King Jehoshaphat
inquired of the Lord about a pending decision God advised him and helped him “…After this, the armies of the Moabites,
Ammonites, and some of the Meunites declared war on Jehoshaphat. Messengers came and told
Jehoshaphat, “A vast army from Edom is marching against you from beyond the
Dead Sea. They are already at Hazazon-tamar.” (This was another name for
En-gedi.). Jehoshaphat
was terrified by this news and begged the Lord for guidance (or
his expertise).” (2 Chronicles 20:1-30
NLT).
Jehoshaphat called on
the “EXPERT” for advice and help. “... He prayed, “O Lord, God of our ancestors, you alone are
the God who is in heaven.
…We can cry out to you to save us, and you will hear us and
rescue us.’ …O our God, won’t you stop them? We are powerless
against this mighty army that is about to attack us. We do not know what to do,
but we are looking to you for help.” …” (2
Chronicles 20: 1-30 NLT).
Jehoshaphat had his own
human “expert” army, but he STILL consulted the ULIMATE expert FIRST. “…As all the men of Judah stood before the Lord with their little ones,
wives, and children, the
Spirit of the Lord came
upon one of the men standing there. His name was Jahaziel son of
Zechariah, son of Benaiah, son of Jeiel, son of Mattaniah, a Levite who was a
descendant of Asaph…” (2 Chronicles 20:1-30 NLT).
God responded to
Jehoshaphat by sending him a divine “expert” message through a man named Jahaziel.“…He said, “Listen, all you people of Judah and
Jerusalem! Listen, King Jehoshaphat! This is what the Lord says:
Do not be afraid! Don’t be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not
yours, but God’s.
…you will not even need to fight. Take your positions; then
stand still and watch the Lord’s victory. He is with you … Do not be afraid or
discouraged. Go out against them tomorrow, for the Lord is with you!”
(2 Chronicles 20:1-30 NLT).
Jahaziel’s inspired,
expert word from God guided and empowered his choice and it bought King
Jehoshaphat victory. “…Early the next
morning the army of Judah went out into the wilderness of Tekoa. On the way
Jehoshaphat stopped and said, “Listen to me, all you people of Judah and
Jerusalem! Believe in the Lord your God, and you will be
able to stand firm. Believe in his prophets, and you will succeed.” After
consulting the people, the king appointed singers to walk ahead of the army,
singing to the Lord and praising him for his holy splendor.
This is what they sang: “Give thanks to
the Lord; his faithful love endures forever!” (2
Chronicles 20:1-30 NLT).
King Jehoshaphat received God’s “expert” WORD regarding
his decision on fighting the impending armies of Ammon and Moab. He was able to
go out to war, with his army, singing and praising God.
What happened, after
King Jehoshaphat took God’s expert
advice? “…At the very moment they began to sing and give
praise, the Lord caused the armies of Ammon, Moab,
and Mount Seir to start fighting among
themselves. The armies of Moab and Ammon turned against their allies from Mount
Seir and killed every one of them.
After
they had destroyed the army of Seir, they
began attacking each other.
So when the army of Judah arrived at the lookout point in the wilderness,
all they saw were dead bodies lying on the ground as far as they could see.
Not a single one of the enemy had
escaped.
….On
the fourth day they gathered in the Valley of Blessing which got its name that day because the people praised and thanked
the Lord there. It
is still called the Valley of Blessing today. …the Lord
had given them
victory over their enemies.
God is the ULTIMATE expert who has supernatural skills and
knowledge, second to NONE, in ALL areas of LIFE. Thus, God is omniscient. “… God that made the world and all things therein…”
(Acts 17:24 KJV). “… Known unto God are all his
works from the beginning of the world…”
(Acts 15:18 KJV).
God has these skills and knowledge simple because he is God and
has made ALL things anyway.“…
[The] … Lord
alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all
their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas,
and all that is therein, and thou preservest
them all…”
(Nehemiah 9:6 KJV). “… Hath not my hand made
all these things?” (Acts 7:50 KJV).
God is the ULTIMATE expert BECAUSE he has knowledgably and
skillfully MADE “ALL” things. “…For all
those things hath mine hand made…”
(Isaiah 66:2 KJV). “… For thou hast made
all these things…” (Jeremiah 14:22 KJV). “… All things were made by him; and without him was not any
thing made that was made…” (John 1:3 KJV).
CHOOSING expertise is VERY beneficial when making a CHOICE or
DECISION. However, consulting God too provides a GREATER confidence when making
those CHOICE and DECISIONS. “… [He]… IS “ABLE” to do exceeding abundantly above all that [you]… ask or think, according to the POWER that worketh IN
[them]…” (Ephesians 3:20 KJV).
Human experts are, more often than not, a blessing and the bible
says with many counselors there is advantage. “…Without good direction, people lose their way; the more wise counsel you follow, the
better your chances…” (Proverbs 14:11 MSG). “…Where there is no guidance the people fall, But in abundance of counselors there is victory…” (Proverbs
14:11 NASB). However, human expertise will NEVER override or supersede the
expertise of God. “…The foolishness of God
is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men…” (1 Corinthians
1:25 KJV).
“… [My]… thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways…..as the heavens are higher than the
earth, so are my ways higher than your
ways and my thoughts than your thoughts…”
(Isaiah 55:8-9 ASV).
It is God’s expert
counsel that will STAND above the REST of the expert counsel. “…My counsel (WORD)… SHALL stand, and I will do all my pleasure…”
(Isaiah 46:10 KJV). “… There is NONE like unto thee, O LORD; thou art
GREAT…”
(Jeremiah 10:6 KJV). “… In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy
paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV)
