GLORY: JEHOVAH SHALOM (THE GOD OF PEACE)

 “… the God of peace … that great Shepherd of the sheep, …” (Hebrews 13:20-21 NIV). “…The fruit of the Spirit is …peace …” (Galatians 5:22-23 KJV). “…I am leaving you with a GIFT—peace of mind and heart...” (John 14:27 KJV). “…These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace…” (John 16:33 KJV).

When most people think of PEACE they picture a calm mind, steady thoughts, a drama-free life, a lack of hostility or stress, and a quiet personality, which are all features of PEACE. “… [Jehovah Shalom] … will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!” (Isaiah 26:3 NLT).

Godly PEACE, however, ADDS wholeness of life, well-being, or complete health. “… You will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus…” (Philippians 4:7 NLT). “… The peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus…” (Philippians 4:7 NASB).

Godly PEACE stems from a restored, harmonic, covenant relationship between Jehovah Shalom and those who BELONG to him. “… My lovingkindness will not be removed from you, And My covenant of peace will not be shaken,” Says the Lord who has compassion on you…” (Isaiah 54:10 NASB). “ … Behold, I give him My covenant of peace…” (Numbers 25:12 NASB). “… I will make a covenant of peace with them…” (Ezekiel 34:25 NASB).

Jehovah Shalom bestows upon those who BELONG to him health, prosperity, and victory over life’s adversities. “…may the God of hope fill you with all  … peace in believing…” (Romans 15:13 NASB). “…Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ…” (Romans 1:7 NASB). “…God will generously PROVIDE all … [the peace] … you need…” (2 Corinthians 9:8 NLT). . “…my cup … [of peace] … runneth over…” (Psalms 23:5 KJV).

Jehovah Shalom can bestow PEACE upon those who BELONG to him because he is the SOURCE of PEACE. “…Now may the God of peace Himself SANCTIFY you ENTIRELY…” (1 THESSALONIANS 5:23 NASB). “… The God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep …” (Hebrews 13:20 NASB). “… May the Lord of peace Himself continually grant you peace in every circumstance…” (2 Thessalonians 3:16 NASB). “… Prince of Peace…” (Isaiah 9:6 NASB).

Jehovah Shalom sent his only begotten SON as a WAY to enter into a “covenant of PEACE” with him. “… Having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ…” (Romans 5:1 NASB). “… there is peace with God through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all…”(Acts 10:46 NASB). “… It was the Father’s good pleasure … to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross...” (Colossians 1:20 NASB). “… He Himself is our peace, who made both groups into one and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall, by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances, so that in Himself He might make the two into one new man, thus establishing peace, and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, by it having put to death the enmity. And He came and preached peace to you who were far away, and peace to those who were near…” (Ephesians 2:14-17 NASB).

Jehovah Shalom’s PEACE is a result of a “right” relationship with God through Christ. “…a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ…” (Galatians 2:16 NLT). “…Since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ…” (Romans 5:1 KJV). “..I have told you all this so that you may have PEACE IN ME…” (John 16:33 NLT).

Jehovah Shalom’s PEACE is a direct result of the relationship with him through Christ experienced by the indwelling Holy Spirit. “…The Kingdom of God is …a matter …of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit…” (Romans 14:17 NIV). .  “…The Kingdom of God is …a matter of … living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit…” (Romans 14:17 NLT).

It is the “righteous” covenant relationship with Jehovah Shalom that leads to PEACE. “ … Letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will. …” (Romans 8:1-14 NLT).  “… the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace…” (James 3:18 NASB). “… The work of righteousness will be peace…” (Isaiah 32:17 NASB). “… the peaceful fruit of righteousness…” (Hebrews 12:11 NASB).

Jehovah Shalom cleanses YOU from sin in order to enjoy his PEACE. “… I will cleanse them from all their iniquity by which they have sinned against Me, and I will pardon all their iniquities by which they have sinned against Me and by which they have transgressed against Me. It will be to Me a name of joy, praise and glory before all the nations of the earth which will hear of all the good that I do for them, and they will fear and tremble because of all the good and all the peace that I make for it…” (Jeremiah 33:8-9 NASB).

Godly PEACE can, however, be easily disturbed when those who BELONG to God choose to live APART from God’s righteousness. “… There is no peace for the wicked,” says the Lord…” (Isaiah 48:22 NASB).  “… There is no peace,” says my God, “for the wicked…” (Isaiah 57:12 NASB). “… There will be tribulation and distress for every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek,  but glory and honor and peace to everyone who does good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek…” (Romans 2:9-10 NASB).

Jehovah Shalom is true PEACE and true PEACE will and can NEVER be found apart from him. “…The fruit of the Spirit is … peace…” (Galatians 5:22-23 KJV). “… All things  (including PEACE) came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being … (John 1:1-4 NASB). “….Apart from Me (the Holy Spirit), you can do nothing…” (John 15:5 NIV). “… [Jehovah Shalom’s] …Holy Spirit …is the SOURCE [of PEACE]…” (1 Corinthians 12: 4-11 NLT).

Godly PEACE “FROM” Jehovah Shalom includes harmony with God, prosperity from God, and well-being from God through Jesus Christ. “… peace from God our Father…” (1 Corinthians 1:3 NASB). “… peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ…” (2 Corinthians 1:2 NASB). “… peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ…” (Galatians 1:3 NASB).

There are many forms and versions of PEACE, but Jehovah Shalom’s PEACE is in a category ALL its own. Shalom means PEACE.. “… The God of peace be with you …” (Romans 15:33 NASB).

Godly PEACE is sustained and maintained from abiding in the relationship with Jehovah Shalom through Christ. “… “in” me you may have peace…” (John 16:33 NIV). “… The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you…” (Philippians 4:9 NASB).

Those who BELONG to God are intimate friends with PEACE. “…GOD IS SPIRIT…” (John 4:24 KJV). “…The fruit of the Spirit is … peace…” (Galatians 5:22-23 KJV).  “…the Spirit of God dwell[s] in you…” (Romans 8:9 KJV).

Jehovah Shalom’s PEACE is a spiritual GIFT. “…What do you have that God hasn’t given you? And if everything you have is from God, why boast as though it were not a gift?...” (1 Corinthians 4:7 NLT). “…I am leaving you with a GIFT—peace of mind and heart...” (John 14:27 KJV).  “… May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you … peace…” (1 Corinthians 1:3 NLT).

Jehovah Shalom’s PEACE is a witness of his presence in the lives of those who BELONG to him. “…Behold, I am with … [you] and will keep … I will not leave [you] ..." (Genesis 28:15 ASV). “…peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord…” (2 Peter 1:2 NASB).

All other peace is an illusion OUTSIDE of Jehovah Shalom. Things and people offer empty promises of peace, but it NEVER lasts and its ONLY temporary. “… They have healed the brokenness of My people superficially, Saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ But there is no peace…” (Jeremiah 6:14 NASB).

Jehovah Shalom is the ONE who SENT “PEACE” on earth through Jesus Christ. “… Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased…” (Luke 2:14 NASB). “… the Lord of peace Himself …” (2 Thessalonians 3:16 NASB). “… Prince of Peace…” (Isaiah 9:6 NASB).

That SAME “PEACE” dwells in those who BELONG to him. “…The fruit of the Spirit is … peace…” (Galatians 5:22-23 KJV). “…The Lord is that Spirit …” (2 Corinthians 3:17 KJV).“… Jesus Christ is in you …” (2 Corinthians 13:5 KJV). “…Christ in you, …” (Colossians 1:27 KJV). “… [They] … enjoy the promise of blessings (peace) because THEY BELONG TO CHRIST JESUS…” (Ephesians 3:6 NLT).  

“ …Those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all….” (Romans 8:8-11 NLT).

Those who BELONG to Jehovah Shalom through Jesus Christ are to SEEK after PEACE. “… pursue the things which make for peace…” (Romans 14:19 NASB). “… Seek peace and pursue it…” (Psalms 34:14 NASB). “… Blessed are the peacemakers…” (Matthew 5:9 NASB). “…If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men…” (Romans 12:18 NASB).

Those who BELONG to Jehovah Shalom through Jesus Christ voluntarily and willfully CHOOSE to let God's PEACE rule in their hearts. “… let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful…” (Colossians 3:15 NASB).

Godly PEACE relies on Jehovah Shalom  by TRUSTING him and ABIDING in him. “…The Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: … peace….” (Galatians 5 NLT). “…He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit (peace)…” (John 15:5 KJV). ^“…It is God who works (peace) in you …” (Philippians 2:13 NIV). Therefore,“…Trust in the Lord with all thine heart…” (Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV). “ …. lean not unto thine own understanding…” (Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV).  “ … In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths…” (Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV).

The WORLD and our LIVES will continually be challenged by conflict, wars, drama, and a serious lack of PEACEful surroundings, except for Jehovah Shalom. . “… I have told you all this so that you may have PEACE IN ME. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have OVERCOME the world…” (John 16:33 NLT).

Thus, those who BELONG to Jehovah Shalom have PEACE witnessed through their contentment no matter what is happening around them. “…I have learned to be CONTENT whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want…” Philippians 4:11-12 NIV). “….I can do (be PEACEful) all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” (Philippians 4:13 KJV).

Jehovah Shalom sent Jesus Christ to DIE in order for YOU to have PEACE with him, to extend PEACE toward you, to ensure you HAVE PEACE, to gift you with indwelling PEACE, and express PEACE through you.“… we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ…” (Romans 5:1 NASB). “… peace from God our Father…” (1 Corinthians 1:3 NASB) “…My peace I give to you …” (John 14:27 NASB). “…The fruit of the Spirit is … peace…” (Galatians 5:22-23 KJV). “…The Lord is that Spirit …” (2 Corinthians 3:17 KJV).“… Jesus Christ is in you …” (2 Corinthians 13:5 KJV). “… It was the Father’s good pleasure … to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through … [Jesus] ...” (Colossians 1:20 NASB). “…God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave  us the ministry of reconciliation (PEACE). …” (2 Corinthians 5:18 NIV).

Jehovah Shalom sent Jesus to take ALL our conflicts so we can ENJOY, RECEIVE, and LIVE in Godly PEACE. “… he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all…” (Isaiah 53:4-5 KJV).

PEACE was Jehovah Shalom’s PLAN. “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end…” (Jeremiah 29:11 KJV).

Jehovah Shalom’s PLAN for PEACE through Jesus Christ to those who BELONG to him includes WHOLENESS, WELL-BEING, and an indwelling LACK OF INNER CONFLICT. “...Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV). “…Jesus Christ maketh thee whole…” (Acts 9:34 KJV). “… [because] … all things are … [MADE] … NEW…” (2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV). “…I WILL GIVE you … a new spirit in you. …” (Ezekiel 36:26 NLT).

Therefore, “…May God himself, the God who makes everything holy and whole, make you holy and whole, put you together …[again]… —spirit, soul, and body …” (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 MSG).
