“…you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD,
A HOLY NATION, A
PEOPLE FOR God's OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the
excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light …” (1 Peter 2:9 NASB).
*
When people used the word “my” they are usually
referring to something that “belongs” to them. “My car.” “My leg.” My husband.” “My wife.” “My people. “…you are
… A PEOPLE FOR God's OWN POSSESSION,
…” (1 Peter 2:9 NASB).
When people “possess”
something it usually means they have it, own it, or have gained control over
it. “My car.” “My leg.” My husband.” “My wife.”
“My people.“…Those who BELONG TO Christ Jesus …”
(Galatians 5 NLT). “… We are his; we are HIS PEOPLE...” (Psalms 100:3 KJV).
“… [They]…are [ALL]…
part of the same body, and enjoy the promise of blessings because THEY BELONG TO
CHRIST JESUS…” (Ephesians 3:6 NLT). “…He
that is joined (attached) unto the Lord is ONE SPIRIT…” (1 Corinthians 6:17 KJV).
God’s people are the ones who have
RECEIVED Jesus and belong to God through him. “… AS MANY as received him, to them GAVE HE POWER TO BECOME
THE “SONS” OF GOD (a people of
god’s own possession)…” (John 1:12 KJV). “…And remember that those who DO NOT have the
Spirit of Christ living
in them DO NOT BELONG TO HIM at all…” (Romans
8:1-14 NLT).
Doesn’t EVERYTHING
“BELONG” to God anyway? “…The
earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof; the
world, and THEY
that dwell therein…”
(Psalm 24:1 KJV). “…the world is mine, and the fulness thereof…” (Psalm 50:12
KJV).
God designed mankind
with a human will and with a certain amount of power to choose as he or she
pleases. “…Choose
you
this day whom ye will serve….” (Joshua 24:15 KJV). “..Therefore
choose LIFE, …” (Deuteronomy 30:19 KJV).
God in his sovereignty
CHOOSES not to cross certain boundaries when it comes to human will. “…The highway to hell is broad,
and its gate is wide for the many who CHOOSE
that way. …” (Matthew 7:13-14
NLT). “..Therefore choose
LIFE,
…”
(Deuteronomy 30:19 KJV).
He is sovereignly in
control, but he CHOOSES not to be controlling. His people rightfully belong to
him, but he CHOOSES not to FORCE his rights when it comes to their human will. “… I have set before you LIFE and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose LIFE, that both thou and
thy seed may LIVE…” (Deuteronomy 30:19 KJV). “..Therefore choose LIFE …” (Deuteronomy 30:19 KJV).
THE FALL or the
beginning of humanity’s domination by sin and spiritual separation from God’s
Spirit began with the exercise of human will.
Adam and Eve were immediately “…separated from the “LIFE” of God…” (Ephesians
4:18 NIV). “… [their] … iniquities (sin) …separated
[them]… from God… …” (Isaiah 59:2
KJV).
The FALL is called the
Original Sin. The Original Sin was, in essence, the FALL “AWAY” or separation
from God. Men’s sin became like OIL and God’s holiness was like WATER. The two
could NO longer MIX. “…Let no man say
when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil,
neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and
enticed. Then when lust hath conceived,
it BRINGETH FORTH SIN: and sin, when it is finished, BRINGETH FORTH DEATH…” (James 1:13-15 NLT).
The process of CHOICE: “…The woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired
to make one wise…” (Genesis 3:6 NLT).
The RESULT of mankind’s
CHOICE” “…Through one man SIN
entered into the world, and DEATH
THROUGH SIN, and so death passed to all men—“(Romans 5:12 KJV).
The negative TRANSFORMATION of
mankind’s own CHOICE over God’s: “…The highway to hell is broad, and its gate
is wide …” (Matthew 7:13-14 NLT). “…At
that moment their eyes were opened…” (Genesis 3:1-7 NLT). “…they suddenly felt shame at their nakedness. So they
sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves. When the cool evening breezes
were blowing, the man and his wife heard the Lord God walking about in the
garden. So they
hid from the Lord God among the trees. Then the Lord God called to the man, “Where
are you?” He replied, “I heard you walking
in the garden, so I hid. I was afraid because I was naked.” “Who told you that you were naked?” the Lord God asked. “Have you eaten from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to
eat?” The man replied, “It was the woman you gave me who gave me the fruit, and I ate it.”
Then the Lord God asked the woman, “What have you
done?” “The
serpent deceived me,” she replied. “That’s why I ate it...” (Genesis 3:7-13 NLT).
“…When lust hath conceived, it
BRINGETH FORTH SIN: and SIN when it is finished,
BRINGETH FORTH DEATH…”
(James 1:13-15 NLT).
Adam and Eve
experienced a negative transformation. They
experienced the death of purity or holiness. They became conscious of guilt
from transgressing God’s commandment. “…Sin is the
transgression of the law….” (1 John 3:4 KJV). “…Everyone
who sins is breaking God’s law….” (1 John 3:4 NLT). “…The wages of sin is death…” (Romans 6:23 KJV).
In addition, they
experienced shame or disgrace. They hid from God instead of maintaining an open
relationship with Him. “…They suddenly felt shame
at their nakedness. So they sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves …they hid from
the Lord God ...”
(Genesis 3:7-13 NLT).
They became aware of
physical nakedness as a result of losing their spiritual covering or
protection. “…Hast thou an arm like God? or
canst thou… Deck
thyself now with majesty and excellency; and array thyself with
glory and [holy]…BEAUTY …”
(Job 40:9-10 KJV).
They were “…DEAD in trespasses and sin”
(Ephesians 2:1 KJV). AND “….apart from … [God’s Spirit], [they could]… do nothing …
[about it]…” (John 15:5 NIV).
. “…God asked the woman, “What have you done?” (Genesis 3:7-13 NLT). “… ONE sinner (through
CHOICE) destroy[ed]… MUCH GOOD…” (Ecclesiastes 9:18 NASB).
“….God formed man of the dust of the ground (BODY), and breathed into his nostrils the BREATH OF LIFE (SPIRIT); and man became a living soul
(SOUL)…” (Genesis 2:7 KJV). The
price for their CHOICE was THE FALL “away” from God and SEPARATION from his
HOLINESS.
Adam and Eve became like OIL to the WATER
of God’s Holy Spirit and were “…separated from the
LIFE of God…” (Ephesians 4:18 NIV). “… [ONLY] …
the SPIRIT who gives LIFE;
the flesh profits nothing…” (John 6:63 NASB). “… [Their] … iniquities (sin) …separated [them]… from God… …” (Isaiah 59:2 KJV).
It is traditional to
view the serpent as a representative of evil. The job of a representative of
evil is to deceive and destroy any possible relationship people can have with
God, especially God’s people.
However, the
representative of evil, the serpent, initiated and presented the first
appearance or example of the power of human will. “… I have set before you LIFE and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose LIFE, that both thou and
thy seed may LIVE…” (Deuteronomy 30:19 KJV). “…Choose you this day whom ye will serve….” (Joshua 24:15 KJV). “…The highway to hell is broad,
and its gate is wide for the many who CHOOSE
that way. …” (Matthew 7:13-14
NLT).
Without the HOLY SPIRIT man
could NO longer connect with God nor CHOOSE him. OIL and WATER WON’T mix and neither
will SIN and HOLINESS.
This inability to CHOOSE LIFE/God has been
mankind’s fall into the endless abyss of sin throughout history. Apostles Paul
proclaims it: “The
trouble is with me, for I am all too human, a slave to sin.
I don’t really understand myself, for I want to do what is right
(choose life), but I don’t do it. Instead, I do what I hate. So I am not the one doing wrong; it is sin living in me that does
it. And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my
sinful nature. I want to do what is right (choose life), but I can’t. I want to do what is good, but I don’t.
…I [am] …a slave to the sin that is … within me. Who
will free me
from this life that is dominated by sin?
…” (Romans
7:14-25 NLT).
Mankind has a human
will, BUT it is dominated by sin! “…Who
will free me
from this life that is dominated by sin? …” (Romans 7:14-25 NLT).
Mankind’s perpetual
inability to FREE themselves from the domination of SIN is because “…It is the SPIRIT who gives … [the power or ability to CHOOSE]
… LIFE…” (John 6:63 NASB). ). “…
[You] can do all things through Christ (the indwelling
spirit) which
strengtheneth [you]…” (Philippians 4:13 KJV). “…for [HIS]… power is made perfect in weakness…” (2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV).
The disconnection or separation from God
resulted in an inability to be in God’s PRESENCE or a relationship. “… [Their] … iniquities (sin) …separated
[them]… from God… …” (Isaiah 59:2
KJV).
The fall was a total
separation from God’s Spirit and his PRESENCE. “…All have sinned and fallen SHORT
of the GLORY of God…” (Romans 3:23).
God’s glory is his
manifested PRESENCE. Remember Moses
in Exodus asked about God’s glory or to see his manifested PRESENCE. “… [So when] Moses said, “Now show me your glory.” …The Lord said, “I will cause ALL MY GOODNESS to pass in
front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the Lord, in
your presence.
…” (Exodus 33:16-23 NIV).
“…All have …fallen short of the
GLORY (indwelling presence) of God…” (Romans 3:23).
God’s
manifested PRESENCE is “…radiance [from his
glorious Holy Spirit and]…
is like the sunlight…” (Habakkuk 3:4.NASB). Jesus, “…the Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being…” (Hebrews 1:3 KJV). Thus,
“…all [humanity]… have …fallen short of the GLORY of God…” (Romans
3:23).
MANKIND “NO” longer
belonged to God. WHY? “… Those who DO NOT have the
Spirit of Christ living
in them DO NOT BELONG TO HIM at all…” (Romans
8:1-14 NLT). . “…GOD IS SPIRIT…”
(John 4:24 KJV). “…The Lord is that
Spirit…” (2 Corinthians 3:17 KJV). “….THE LORD IS OUR GOD, THE LORD IS ONE…” (DEUTERONOMY 6:4 KJV).
In the Old Testament God’s people were invited into a covenant relationship with him. Once
they accepted his invitation they BELONGED to him. “…you are
… A PEOPLE FOR God's OWN POSSESSION,
…” (1 Peter 2:9 NASB). “…For
I will have respect unto you …and establish my
covenant with you.…”
(Leviticus 26:9 KJV).
God made promises to
“HIS” people. “…the Lord thy God
will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: And
ALL THESE BLESSINGs SHALL COME ON THEE, and overtake
thee…” (Deuteronomy 28:1-2 KJV).
However, “HIS” people’s loyalty and commitment
to the covenant relationship with God was often impacted by apostasy
(unfaithfulness). “…”if” thou (God’s people) shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to
observe and to do all his commandments …”
(Deuteronomy 28:1-2 KJV).
Nevertheless, over the
years, history informs us that God’s people repeatedly abandoned him and the
covenant relationship. “…They ABANDONED ME and did
not obey my word….”
(JEREMIAH 16:11 NLT). “…They ABANDONED the Lord… they
turned their backs on him….” (2 Chronicles 29:6 NLT).“…The Lord
replies, “This has happened because my people have ABANDONED MY INSTRUCTIONS; they have refused to obey what I said….”
(JEREMIAH 9:13 NLT).
“…For whatsoever things were
written aforetime were written for our learning…” (Romans 15:4 KJV). “Now all these things happened unto them for
ensamples: and they are written for our
admonition…” (1 Corinthians 10:11 KJV).
What happened, in the OT, when the God’s
people were not loyal or committed, but abandoned the covenant relationship
instead? …“…“IF” you
refuse to LISTEN to
the Lord your God and do not obey all the
commands and decrees, …all these curses will come and overwhelm you:…” (Deuteronomy 28 NLT).
In the New Testament God’s people are also invited into a covenant relationship with him. Once
they accepted his invitation through Christ Jesus they BELONG to God too.
“… [Everyone]… who believe the Good News share equally in the riches inherited by God’s children. [They]…are [ALL]… part of the same body, and
enjoy the promise of blessings because THEY
BELONG TO CHRIST JESUS…”
(Ephesians 3:6 NLT). “…you are … A PEOPLE FOR God's OWN POSSESSION, …” (1
Peter 2:9 NASB).
God’s people of the New
Testament require loyalty and commitment to the covenant relationship with God
too, but it is also impacted by apostasy (unfaithfulness). However, JESUS makes the difference.
“…Jesus has become
the guarantor of a better covenant…” (Hebrews 7:22 NIV).
“…In
him (Jesus) ALL
THINGS (God’s people)…hold together…”
(Colossians 1:7 NIV). “…[Jesus is]…sustaining ALL THINGS (God’s people)… by his powerful
word…” (Hebrews 1:3 NIV). “….Apart from Me (Jesus), you can do nothing (you could NOT be
God’s people)…” (John 15:5 NIV).
Therefore, “… [God’s
people are]…looking unto Jesus the AUTHOR (originator)
and FINISHER
(sustainer) OF .. [their]… FAITH…” (Hebrews 12:2a KJV). “…HE (Jesus) WHICH HATH “BEGUN” A GOOD “WORK” IN YOU WILL
“PERFORM” IT until the day
of Jesus Christ…” (Philippians 1:6 KJV).
“…Iis God who
worketh in
you…”
(Philippians 2:13 KJV).
SO
“…[God’s people] … are not under
the law (the dos and don’ts of life), but
under GRACE…” (Romans 6:14 KJV). “…When you are
directed by the Spirit, you are not under obligation to the law of Moses. …”
(Galatians 5 NLT). “…You are controlled by the
Spirit if you have the
Spirit of God living in you…For all who are led by the Spirit of God are
children of God…”
(Romans 8:1-14 NLT). “…My GRACE is sufficient for thee: for
my strength is made perfect in weakness...” (2 Corinthians 12:9 KJV). “…Great
is his love toward us, and the faithfulness of the LORD endures
forever.
Praise the LORD” (Psalms 117:2 KJV).
God “…is “SO” RICH in
kindness and GRACE that he purchased our freedom ….and forgave our sins…” (Ephesians 1:7 NLT). “… [WE]… WHO ARE “KEPT” BY THE “POWER” OF GOD THROUGH FAITH unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. …”
(1 Peter 1:5-9 KJV). “….The exceeding RICHES of his GRACE in his kindness toward us
through Christ Jesus…”
(Ephesians 2:7 KJV). “…be
strong in the GRACE that is in Christ Jesus…” (2
Timothy 2:1 KJV). “…by the
GRACE of God I AM what I AM…” (1 Corinthians 15:10 NIV). “…you are
… A PEOPLE FOR God's OWN POSSESSION,
…” (1 Peter 2:9 NASB).
Some of God’s people may see Jesus’
guarantee to get them into heaven as a FREE pass to SIN, but is it REALLY is a
FREE pass to LIVE righteous. Here is WARNING: “….[God] … shall
judge his people.
[and h]… It is a fearful thing to fall
into the hands of the living God…”
(Hebrews 10:26-31 NASB).
In the Old Testament,
God’s people dishonored and disrespected him through abandonment. “…They ABANDONED ME
and did not obey my word….” (JEREMIAH 16:11 NLT). “…They ABANDONED the Lord… they
turned their backs on him….” (2 Chronicles 29:6 NLT). “… my people have ABANDONED
MY INSTRUCTIONS; they
have refused to obey what I said….”
(JEREMIAH 9:13 NLT).
In the New Testament, God’s people
dishonor or disrespect him by trampling on God by profaning or blaspheming the HOLY
blood covenant given to them through Jesus Christ. “…If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the
knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, …How much more severely
do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God
underfoot, who
has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the
covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? …"
(Hebrews 10:26-31 NIV).
They do this by “falling away” or “deliberately
sinning,” thereby, they have “insulted
(offended; blasphemed against) the Spirit of GRACE” (disrespected,
dishonored). “…If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the
knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful
expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of
God. Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without
mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much more
severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son
of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant
that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?
For we know him who said, “It is mine to
avenge; I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will
judge his people.”
It is a dreadful thing to fall into the
hands of the living God…" (Hebrews
10:26-31 NIV).
“… How much more
severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who … has
insulted the Spirit of grace? …"
(Hebrews 10:26-31 NIV). Blaspheme means the ACT of insulting, showing contempt or lack of reverence for
God.
HERE IS SOME FOOD FOR THOUGHT: “… any sin
and blasphemy shall be forgiven people, but blasphemy against the
Spirit shall not be forgiven…” (Matthew 12:31 NASB). Is
blasphemy simple something you say or does it also include something you perpetually
do?
“…My
people
would not listen to me. They kept doing whatever they wanted, following the stubborn desires of their evil hearts. They
went backward instead of forward”
(Jeremiah 7:24 NLT). “…the
people
replied, “Don’t waste your breath. We
will continue to live as we want to,
stubbornly following our own evil desires”
(JEREMIAH 18:12 NLT). “…The Lord said to Moses, “How long will
these
(my) people
treat me with contempt (disrespect, insult, blasphemy, etc.)?”
(Daniel 14:11 NIV).
“…you are … A PEOPLE FOR God's OWN
POSSESSION, …”
(1 Peter 2:9 NASB).
“…For if we sin wilfully after that we have received
the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of
judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. He that despised Moses' law
died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how
much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden
under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant,
wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy
thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? For we know
him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the
Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God…”
(Hebrews 10:26-31 NASB).
This passage says “HIS”
people will be “JUDGED and fall into “… the
hands of the living God…”
(Hebrews 10:26-31 NASB). “…you are … A PEOPLE FOR God's OWN
POSSESSION, …”
(1 Peter 2:9 NASB). “…How
shall … [you] … escape, if .. [you] … neglect SO GREAT SALVATION…” (Hebrews 2:3-5 KJV).
1.
If
YOU go on willfully sinning and fall away after being sanctified, there is no
other sacrifice for sins, but only a guaranteed expectation of judgement. The Lord shall
judge his people.
…” (Hebrews 10:26-31 NASB). “…you are
… A PEOPLE FOR God's OWN POSSESSION…” (1
Peter 2:9 NASB).
2.
After
being enlightened, a partaker of the Holy Spirit, tasting the good word, and
experiencing the power of God -
according to the word - it is impossible to renew YOU again; because it
is as if YOU crucify Christ all over again and disgraced
him publicly. “…It is impossible for those who were “once”
enlightened,
and have
tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of
God, and the powers of the world to come,
If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto
repentance;
seeing they crucify to themselves the Son
of God afresh, and put him to an open shame…”
(Hebrews 6:4-6 KJV).
“…you are … A PEOPLE FOR God's OWN
POSSESSION …”
(1 Peter 2:9 NASB).
“…How shall we escape,
if we neglect SO GREAT SALVATION; which at the first began to be spoken by
the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; God also bearing
them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the holy ghost according to
his own will?” (Hebrews 2:3-5 KJV).
“…you are … A PEOPLE FOR God's OWN
POSSESSION, …”
(1 Peter 2:9 NASB). “… [By]…the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ… though he was rich...for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might
be RICH…” (2 Corinthians 8:9 KJV). “…Christ
hath redeemed us from the curse of
the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is
every one that hangeth on a tree…”
(Galatians 3:13 KJV). “…To redeem them that were under the law, that
we might receive the adoption of sons…”
(Romans 4:5 KJV). “…you are … A PEOPLE FOR God's OWN
POSSESSION…” (1 Peter 2:9 NASB).
“…How
shall … [you] … escape, if …[you] … neglect SO GREAT SALVATION…”
(Hebrews 2:3-5 KJV). “…God …bearing …witness [of Christ too,]…with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the holy ghost according to
his own will?” (Hebrews 2:3-5 KJV).
God has INCREDIBLY
BLESSED and FAVORED “HIS” people. “…How
shall … [they] … escape, if ...[they] … neglect SO GREAT SALVATION …”
(Hebrews 2:3-5 KJV).
The BIGGEST mistake
MANKIND can ever make collectively or individually is to BEHAVE as if they
DON’T BELONG to God. “…“How long will these people
treat me with contempt (disrespect)?”
(Daniel 14:11 NIV). “…you are … A PEOPLE FOR God's OWN
POSSESSION …”
(1 Peter 2:9 NASB).
God has GIVEN “HIS”
people EVERYTHING!! “…His divine power
hath given unto us (HIS PEOPLE) ALL THINGS that pertain unto life and godliness…” (2
Peter 1:3 KJV).
There is nothing ELSE to offer “HIS”
people. “…If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the
knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful
expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of
God. …" (Hebrews 10:26-31 NIV).
“…How
shall we escape…”
(Hebrews 2:3-5 KJV). “… God so loved THE
WORLD, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth
in him should not perish, but have everlasting life…” (John 3:16).
“…SALVATION
is found in no one else,
for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be
saved…” (Acts 4:12 NIV). “…And there is SALVATION in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven
that has been given among men by which we must be saved…” (Acts 4:12 NASB).
“…There is SALVATION IN NO ONE ELSE…” (Acts 4:12a NLT).
“…“If” we neglect SO GREAT SALVATION …” it
is done by CHOICE (Hebrews 2:3-5 KJV). “…you are
… A PEOPLE FOR God's OWN POSSESSION
…” (1 Peter 2:9 NASB). “…Choose
you
this day whom ye will serve….” (Joshua 24:15 KJV). “…Neglect
not
the gift that is in thee…” (1 Timothy
4:14 KJV).“…you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit…”
(Acts 2:38 NLT). “…God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son “INTO” …. [y]OUR HEARTS…”
(Galatians 4:6 NASB). “…the Spirit
of God DWELL[s]… in you…” (Romans 8:9 KJV).
YOU
EITHER BELONG TO GOD OR YOU DON’T BELONG TO HIM. "…Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees,
hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cummin, and have neglected the weightier provisions of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness; but these are the
things you should have done without neglecting
the others…” (Matthew 23:23 NASB).
"…But
woe to you Pharisees! For you pay tithe of mint and rue and every kind of
garden herb, and yet disregard justice and the love of God; but these
are the things you should have done without neglecting the others….”
(Luke 11:42 NASB).
“[MY PEOPLE]…Be dressed for service and keep your
lamps burning…” (Luke 12:35 NLT). “…We (God’s people) ought to
give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them sli p (neglect them)…”
(Hebrews 1:2 KJV).
“…How shall we escape, if we neglect SO GREAT SALVATION …”
(Hebrews 2:3-5 KJV). Neglect, of any kind is risky and could lead to blasphemy.
“…For the message God delivered through
angels has always stood firm, and every violation of the law and every act of disobedience (insult, disrespect, blasphemy) was
punished…” (Hebrews 2:2 NLT).
If you neglect mowing
your yard; it will grow wild; if you neglect cleaning your house; it will get
dirtier and dirtier; if you neglect to water you plants; they will eventually
die; if you neglect to study for a test; you will fail; if you neglect to sow
your farm land; there will be no harvest to reap. There are certain things in
life you CAN NOT neglect or there will be negative consequences.
If you neglect the
GREAT salvation; there will be consequences. “…How
shall we escape…” (Hebrews 2:3-5 KJV). “…work out your
own salvation with
fear and trembling…” (Philippians 2:12 KJV). “…Therefore to him that knoweth
to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin…”
(James 4:17 KJV).
Being God’s people REQUIRE attentiveness
and effort. “…Blessed are those servants, whom the lord
when he cometh shall find watching …The lord of that servant will come in a day
when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will
appoint him his portion with the unbelievers…”
(Luke 12:37, 46 NLT).
Jesus was attentive to
God’s business. “…The
Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he hath anointed me to preach
the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach
deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at
liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. And he closed the book,
and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them
that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. And he
began to say unto them, THIS DAY is this scripture fulfilled in your ears…”
(John 4:16-21 KJV).
“…God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and WITH POWER: who
went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for GOD WAS WITH HIM.
And we are witnesses of all things which
he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem…” (Acts 10:38-39
KJV).
You were NOT always God’s PEOPLE. “…by the GRACE of God I am what I am…” (1
Corinthians 15:10 NIV). He
couldn’t MIX with SIN, but through JESUS you BECAME “HIS” people. God’s people
are his chosen race, his royal priest hood, and his people. “… You once were not a people, but now you are the
people of God; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy…” (1 Peter 2:10
NASB).
God’s people are WISE and KNOW what to do
through his HOLY WORD. “…And every one that heareth these sayings of
mine, and
doeth them not, shall
be likened unto a foolish man,
which built his house upon the sand…” (Matthew 7:26 KJV). “…For God saved… [his people] … and called …[them]… to live a holy life. He did this, not
because … [they] … DESERVED it, but
because that was his plan from before the beginning of
time—to
show … [them] … his GRACE through Christ Jesus…” (2
Timothy 1:9 NLT). Therefore, “…Neglect
not
the gift that is in thee…” (1 Timothy 4:14 KJV).
“…you are … A PEOPLE FOR God's OWN
POSSESSION, …”
(1 Peter 2:9 NASB). Thus,“… How much more severely do you think someone
deserves to be punished who … has insulted the Spirit of Grace?
…" (Hebrews 10:26-31 NIV). “… any
sin and blasphemy
shall be forgiven people, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be
forgiven…” (Matthew 12:31 NASB). Is blasphemy simple something you
say or does it also include to you perpetually do?
“…My
people
would not listen to me. They kept doing whatever they wanted, following the stubborn desires of their evil hearts. They
went backward instead of forward”
(Jeremiah 7:24 NLT). “…the
people
replied, “Don’t waste your breath. We
will continue to live as we want to,
stubbornly following our own evil desires”
(JEREMIAH 18:12 NLT). “…The Lord said to Moses, “How long will
these
(my) people
treat me with contempt (disrespect, insult, blasphemy, etc.)?”
(Daniel 14:11 NIV).
“…you are … A PEOPLE FOR God's OWN
POSSESSION, …”
(1 Peter 2:9 NASB).
“…[God’s people are
KNOWN] … by their fruits…” (Matthew 7:16 KJV). “…The
fruit of the Spirit is love, joy,
peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance…” (Galatians 5:22-23 KJV).
