NAILING HIM TO THE CROSS AGAIN
“… For it
is impossible to bring back to repentance
those who
were once enlightened—those
who have
experienced the good things of heaven and shared
in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the Word of God and the
power of the age to come— and who
then turn away from God. It is impossible to bring such people
back to repentance;
by rejecting the
Son of God, they themselves are nailing him to the cross
once again and holding him up to public shame. …”
(Hebrews 6:4-8 NLT).
*
“... SEEING,
they CRUCIFY to themselves the SON of GOD afresh and put him to open shame...”
(Hebrews 6:6 KJV). FALLING AWAY or LEAVING God, the Holy Spirit is to REMOVE, by choice, yourself from God’s “plan of
salvation” THROUGH Jesus Christ.
There is salvation in NO ONE else. “…SALVATION is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven
given to mankind by which we must be saved…” (Acts 4:12 NIV).
“…And there is SALVATION in no one
else; for
there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we
must be saved…” (Acts 4:12 NASB).
“…There is SALVATION IN
NO ONE ELSE…”
(Acts 4:12a NLT).
When you choose to FALL
AWAY or LEAVE God’s plan of SALVATION; there is no other WAY to be SAVED. “...
THE WAY is narrow that LEADS TO LIFE…”
(Matthew 7:13-14 NASB). “ ... Jesus
(THE WORD OF GOD) saith…I am THE WAY …” (John 14:6 KJV). “….Apart from Me
(Jesus, the WORD), you can do nothing (YOU CANNOT GO THE
NARROW WAY)…” (John 15:5 NIV). “…This makes it clear that our great power (TO ENDURE TO THE END) is from God, not
from ourselves…” (2 Corinthians 4:5-7
NLT). “…the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works…” (John 14:10 KJV). “…The GIFT of God is eternal
life
through Jesus
Christ (THE WAY; THE PATH) ….” (Romans 6:23 KJV).
The only thing left is spiritual death. .“...Take
heed, BRETHREN, lest there be in
any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God...” (Hebrews 3:12 KJV). “…You
have been cut off (SEVERED) from Christ (THE WAY; THE PATH)! You have fallen away (LEFT; DEPARTED) from God’s GRACE…”
This DEPARTURE from God, the Holy Spirit, is equivalent to
crucifying Christ ANEW. “... SEEING, they CRUCIFY to themselves the SON of GOD afresh...” (Hebrews 6:6 KJV).
This DEPARTURE from God, the Holy Spirit, is NOT a literal crucifixion,
but based on the conduct of falling away or leaving it is AS IF they have
crucified him again. “... When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out,
saying, Crucify
him, crucify him. …” (John 19:1-16 KJV).
“…Pilate
therefore took Jesus, and scourged him. And the soldiers platted a crown of
thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe. And
said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands….Then came Jesus
forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto
them, Behold the man! When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him,
they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. …” (John 19:1-16
KJV).
“....Pilate
saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him. But
they cried out, Away
with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall
I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.
Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus,
and led him away…” (John 19:1-16 KJV).
Falling away or
departing from God, the Holy Spirit
RESEMBLES the ACT of crucifying Christ afresh when he was publicly REJECTED and
CONDEMNED to die. “...They cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. …” (John 19:1-16
KJV). “…And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a
skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha: Where they crucified him…” (John
19: 17-18 KJV).
“... SEEING,
they CRUCIFY to themselves the SON of GOD afresh and put him to open shame...”
(Hebrews 6:6 KJV). Those who fall away or depart from God, the Holy Spirit would be GUILTY of crucifying him again through their
REJECTION of him.
The REJECTION of God, the Holy Spirit, implies that they would have been one of the ones
crying, “...Crucify him, crucify
him. …” (John 19:1-16
KJV).
“... SEEING,
they CRUCIFY to themselves the SON of GOD afresh...”
(Hebrews 6:6 KJV). Those who fall away or depart, from God, the Holy Spirit, do this willfully and
voluntarily BY CHOICE. Jesus saith…I am the way ....and the life…”
(John 14:6 KJV). “… I have set before you
LIFE and death, blessing and
cursing: therefore choose LIFE…” (Deuteronomy 30:19 KJV). “…Choose you this day whom ye will serve….”
(Joshua 24:15 KJV). “…You have been cut off
(SEVERED) from Christ! You have fallen
away from God’s GRACE…”
(Galatians 5:4 NLT). “...hardened
by the deceitfulness of sin...” (Hebrews 3:13 NASB).
“... SEEING,
they CRUCIFY to themselves the SON of GOD afresh and put
him to open shame...”
(Hebrews 6:6 KJV). Those who fall away or depart from God, the Holy Spirit, is actually DIVORCING him by, CHOOSING, to SHUT
him OUT of the intimate, covenant abode in their OWN hearts.
IF YOUR HEART IS NOT GOD, THE HOLY SPIRIT'S, HOME. HOW ELSE WILL HE LIVE WITH YOU. “…God’s love has been poured
out into
our HEARTS through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us…” (Romans 5:5 NIV). “…God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son “INTO” OUR HEARTS…”
(Galatians 4:6 NASB).
God, the
Holy Spirit was SEALED to YOUR hearts, but the falling away or departure literally PUTS HIM "OUT," CUTS HIM OFF, or EXTINGUISHES him from his abode with you. “...And put him to open shame...” (Hebrews 6:6 KJV).
Therefore, “... Do not grieve (sadden) the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for
the day of redemption...” (Ephesians 4:30 NASB). “... Do not quench (extinguish, put out,
cut off, remove, etc.) the [Holy]... Spirit...” (1
Thessalonians 5:19 NASB). If you do; “…you [will]… have been cut off
(SEVERED) from Christ (THE PATH; THE WAY)! You [WILL] … have fallen
away from God’s GRACE…”
God, the
Holy Spirit’s, commitment to HIS PEOPLE is IMMUTABLE, and the BELIEVER’s
SECURITY is dependent upon HIS IMMUTABLE LOVE.
The SECURITY of SALVATION is BASED on GOD’S
IMMUTABLE LOVE, GOD’S IMMUTABLE GRACE, GOD’S IMMUTABLE CHARACTER, GOD’S
IMMUTABLE WORD, AND GOD’S IMMUTABLE HOLINESS. He has “….loved [you]...with an everlasting
love….” (Jeremiah 31:3 KJV). “…There is no greater LOVE …” (John 15:13 NLT). “…My GRACE is sufficient for you….” (2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV). “… I AM
HOLY…” (1 Peter 1:14-16 KJV). “… [God is]
… watching over [his]… Word to perform it…” (Jeremiah 1:12
NASB). “…So shall my
word be
that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish
that which I please, and it
shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it”
(Isaiah 55:11 KJV). “…there is none like unto thee…” (Jeremiah 10:6 KJV). He is “…majestic in holiness…” (Exodus 15:11 KJV). “… His … [Holiness]
…
is above earth and heaven…” (Psalms 148:13 NASB).
“… “I AM WHO I AM
’ This is My name forever, and this is My memorial-name to all generations…”
(Exodus 3:14-15 NASB). “…I am the Lord,
the God of all flesh…” (Jeremiah 32:27 KJV). "… I am the
Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God…" (Revelation 1:8
NASB). “… I, the LORD … the first,
and with the last. I am He...'"
(Isaiah 41:4 NASB). “...The lord is GOOD…there is none good but one, that is,
God” (Nahum 1:7 & Mark 10:18 KJV). “…God is love…” (1 John 4:4-8 KJV). “… I, the Lord,
am
your healer…”
(Exodus 15:26). “… I AM HOLY…” (1
Peter 1:14-16 KJV). And, “There is none holy as the Lord…” (1
Samuel 2:2 KJV). “…God is the one
who provides …” (2
Corinthians 9:10-13 KJV). “… God will supply all [your need]…” (Philippians
4:19 NASB). “… [God] … will keep in perfect
peace all who trust in … [him] … all
whose thoughts are fixed on … [him!]” (Isaiah 26:3 NLT). “….The
Lord is “my”
shepherd ….”
(PSALM 23:1-3 NLT). “… THE
LORD … is Your rock and Your
fortress, your deliverer, Your GOD, Your rock, in whom [you] … take refuge; Your
shield and
the horn of Your salvation, YOUR
stronghold.…" (Psalms 18:3 NASB).
“…Thou
shalt know that I the LORD am thy Saviour …” (Isaiah 60:16 KJV). “…there is none like unto thee…”
(Jeremiah 10:6 KJV).
“…I
am the Lord, I change NOT…”
(Malachi 3:6 KJV). “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever”
(Hebrews 13:8 NIV).
Those who fall away or
depart from God, the Holy Spirit, actually
DIVORCE him“...and put
him to open shame...”
(Hebrews 6:6 KJV). This “OPEN SHAME” is a personal and public REJECTION of God,
the Holy Spirit. It is an outward
REPROACH which demonstrates an inward abandonment of the intimate, covenant
relationship. “... Do not quench (extinguish, put oUT cut off, remove, divorce, etc.) the [Holy]...
Spirit...” (1 Thessalonians 5:19 NASB).“... I
hate divorce!” says
the Lord, the God of Israel. “…”
(Malachi 2:16 NLT). “…[MY PEOPLE] ... broke [THEIR] ... covenant ..[WITH ME], though I (GOD, THE HOLY SPIRIT) loved them as a
husband loves his wife,” says
the Lord…” (Jeremiah 31:32 NASB). “…If we
are faithless, he remains
faithful…” (2 Timothy 2:13 NIV). “…THIS IS THE CONDEMNATION, that light is come into the world, and MEN LOVED DARKNESS RATHER THAN LIGHT,
because THEIR
DEEDS WERE EVIL. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the
light, lest his deeds should be reproved…” (John 3:18-20 KJV).
Sin
hardens the heart. “...[IT IS] … Hardened by the deceitfulness
of sin...” (Hebrews 3:13 NASB). A hardened
heart is the result of an unrepentant mindset. REPENTANCE is a very
important and necessary part of being SAVED because a change of mind, about
sin, will result in a change of thinking and actions about sin too“…REPENT YE (Change your mind), AND BELIEVE the Gospel (depend
upon the power of God’s Word)…” (Mark 1:15 KJV). “…REPENTANCE TOWARD GOD…” (Acts
20:21 KJV). "…Therefore REPENT AND RETURN,
“SO” that your sins may be wiped away…” (Acts 3:19 NASB).
REPENTANCE is the
change of MIND that LEADS to LIVING “free” from the affects and influences of
sin. “…REPENT ye (change your mind) therefore, and BE CONVERTED (SAVED/FREED from SIN),
that your sins may be blotted out
(that you may be DELIVERED from your sins and RESTORED to wholeness again)…”
(Acts 3:19 KJV).
REPENTANCE is a change
of mind that LEADS to LIVING FREE from sin whereas UNREPENTANCE is an unchanged
mind that LEADS to REMAINING in BONDAGE, BY CHOICE, and eventually experiencing a HARDNESS
of HEART.
AN UNREPENTANT mind is
an unchanged mind that will eventually cause you to FALL away from God’s GRACE.
AN UNREPENTANT mind is
an unchanged mind that will not turn toward Jesus Christ (God’s WORD) in order
to be transformed.
AN UNREPENTANT mind is
an unchanged mind that KNOWS that he or she is still practicing sinful
behaviors, but refuses to turn from those sinful ways.
AN UNREPENTANT mind is
an unchanged mind that willfully and voluntarily chooses to remain the SAME.
“.. But the people replied, “Don’t waste
your breath. We
will continue to live as
we want to, stubbornly following our own evil desires” (JEREMIAH 18:12
NLT).
“SAVED” people can BE
UNREPENTANT too. “…my people
would not listen to me. They kept doing whatever they
wanted, following the stubborn desires
of their evil hearts. They went backward instead of forward” (Jeremiah 7:24 NLT). “... Whoever
remains stiff-necked
after many rebukes will
suddenly be destroyed--without remedy...” (Proverbs 29:1 NIV).
Stiff-necked
is the same as “stubborn.” Stubbornness is a product of an unrepentant MINDSET.
“…my
people
would not listen to me...” (Jeremiah 7:24 NLT). “…The harvest is past, the summer is ended,
and [YOU]… ARE
NOT SAVED...” (Jeremiah 8:20 KJV). “…If My people which
are called by My name shall humble
themselves, and pray and seek
My face, and TURN FROM their wicked ways…” (2 Chronicles 7:14
KJV). “… And …“If the righteous are barely saved, what will happen to
godless sinners?” (1 Peter 4:18
NLT).
An
unrepentant MINDSET is an unchanged mind that refuses to follow God’s HOLY
instruction, guidance, or corrections. “ ... But because you are stubborn and refuse to turn from your
sin, you are storing up terrible
punishment for yourself. For a day of anger is coming, when God’s righteous
judgment will be revealed. He will judge everyone according to what they
have done. He will give eternal
life to those who keep on doing good, seeking after the glory and honor and immortality that God offers. But he will
pour out his anger and wrath on those who live for themselves, who refuse to obey the truth and instead live lives of wickedness. There
will be trouble and calamity for everyone who keeps on doing what is evil—for the Jew first
and also for the Gentile. But there will be glory and honor and peace
from God for all who do good ....” (Romans 2:5-13 NLT).
An unchanged mind results in
the consequences of an unrepentant MINDSET: judgement, for instance. “... the Jews (or God’s
people), who do have God’s law, will be judged by that law when they fail to
obey it. For merely listening to the [HOLY] law
doesn’t make us right with God. It is
obeying the [HOLY] law that
makes us right in his sight...” (Romans 2:5-13 NLT).
The SAVED had to, FIRST; REPENT and have faith
in or depend upon Jesus Christ for SALVATION. “…REPENT ye (change your mind) therefore, and BE CONVERTED (SAVED), that your sins may be blotted out (that
you may be DELIVERED from you sins)…” (Acts 3:19 KJV).
Once the SAVED repents
and is converted, they FREELY choose to abide (stay, remain) in Christ and
Christ abides in them! “…abide
in me, and I in you.
(John 15:4 KJV). “…If a man abide NOT in me, ‘he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered…” (John 15:6 KJV).“…The branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so
neither can you unless you abide in Me
... apart from Me you can do nothing…”
(John 15:4-6 NASB).
From the “ONCE SAVED;
ALWAYS SAVED” perspective, an unrepentant mind, which is an unchanged mind, can
either be a professed believer, who was NEVER SAVED in the first place, OR a true believer, who IS SAVED, but is living in a TEMPORARY state of disobedience.
The PROFESSED BELIEVER only “CLAIMS” to be
SAVED, but in REALITY “NEVER” accepted Jesus Christ, “NEVER” had the indwelling Holy Spirit, was “NEVER”
made WHOLE again, and thus, was “NEVER” freed from SIN. “…If we “SAY” that we have fellowship with him, and WALK IN DARKNESS
(unrepentent), WE LIE, and DO NOT THE
TRUTH…” (1 John 1:6 KJV).
“…Bring
forth therefore fruits (such as spiritual fruit) worthy of REPENTANCE (a true
change of mind), and begin
NOT to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you,
That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. And now
also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not
forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. And the
people asked him, saying, What shall we
do then? He
answereth and saith unto them, He that hath two coats, let him
impart to him that hath none…”
(Luke 3:8-11 KJV). “…REPENT…”
(Acts 17:30 KJV).
The TRUE BELIEVER “IS” SAVED, and HAS
accepted Jesus Christ, but is “said” to be TEMPORARILY LIVING in DISOBEDIENCE.
However, they have “the indwelling Holy
Spirit and therefore, ARE “new
creations” whom God will eventually discipline and RETURN them to
fellowship with other SAVED believers. “... I can
hardly believe the report about the sexual immorality going on among
you—something that even pagans (non-saved) don’t do. I am told that a
man in your church is living in sin with his stepmother. You are so
proud of yourselves, but you should be mourning in sorrow and shame. And you should remove this man from your
fellowship. Even though I (Apostle Paul) am not with you in person, I am
with you in the Spirit. And as though I were there, I have already passed judgment on this man in the name of the Lord
Jesus. You must call a meeting of the church. I will be present with you in
spirit, and so will the power of our Lord Jesus. Then you must throw this man out and hand him over to Satan so that his sinful nature will
be destroyed[ and he himself will
be saved on the day the Lord
returns...” (1 Corinthians
5:1-5 NLT).
“... You are not to associate with anyone who claims to be a believer yet indulges in sexual sin, or is greedy, or worships idols, or is abusive, or is a drunkard, or cheats
people. Don’t even eat with such people. It isn’t my responsibility to judge outsiders, but it certainly is your responsibility to judge those inside the church
who are sinning (unrepentant). God will
judge those on the outside; but as the Scriptures say, “You must remove the evil person from among you...” (1 Corinthians 5:11-13 NLT).
“…Ye shall know them
by their fruits…” (Matthew 7:16 KJV).
“ … the deeds of the
flesh are evident, which
are: immorality, impurity, sensuality,
idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes,
dissensions, factions, envying,
drunkenness, carousing, and things like these …”
(Galatians 5:20-22 NASB).
Both the “professed” believer and the “true” believer have UNREPENTANT
mindsets, which are unchanged minds. They BOTH need to hear the GOSPEL that
will LEAD them BOTH to REPENTANCE (a change of mind). God “….is longsuffering to us-ward, NOT WILLING that any should perish, but that ALL
should come to repentance…” (2 Peter 3:9 KJV). “…The Lord isn't really being slow about his
promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for YOUR SAKE. He does not want anyone to be destroyed,
but wants everyone to repent…” (2 Peter 3: 9 NLT).
“…
The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering,
and abundant in goodness and truth…” (Exodus 34:6 KJV). “…But you, Lord, are a compassionate and
gracious God, slow
to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness…” (Psalm 86:16
NIV).
“…Don't
you see how wonderfully kind …God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you?
Can't you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?”
(Romans 2:4 NLT).
The UNREPENTANT mind, which is an unchanged
mind, REJECTS God’s TRUTH, but still NEEDS to HEAR his TRUTH through gentle
LOVE and instruction, in HOPE, that they will eventually REPENT. “... Gently instruct those who oppose the truth. Perhaps God will change those people’s hearts, and they will learn the truth. Then
they will come to their senses and escape from the devil’s trap. For they have been held
captive by him to do whatever he wants... (2 Timothy 2:25-25 NLT).
In the “ONCE SAVED;
ALWAYS SAVED” perspective, an unrepentant mind, which is an unchanged mind, the
unrepentant, professed believer, will be LOST forever in his or her sins,
but the unrepentant, true believer, will, somehow, “STILL” be SAVED
regardless of their sins.
In the “ONCE SAVED;
ALWAYS SAVED” perspective, an unrepentant mind, which is an unchanged mind,
there is a BIG debate which starts with
THIS QUESTION: WILL the UNREPENTENT “TRUE” believer “STILL” INHERIT eternal
life, regardless of an earthly life of
SINFUL behaviors, simply because they have been GUARANTED eternal security?
DO THEY "NOT" HAVE THE PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY TO CHOOSE TO FOLLOW THE WAY/PATH, CHOOSE TO DEPEND UPON GOD'S WORD, AND CHOOSE TO ABIDE WITH GOD, THE HOLY SPIRIT?
The bible says, “…REPENT
(change your mind) …AND BELIEVE the Gospel (choose to depend upon God’s Word)…”
(Mark 1:15 KJV). WHO MUST CHOOSE TO REPENT? WHO MUST CHOOSE TO BELIEVE?
“Therefore
if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away;
behold, all
things are become new” (2
Corinthians 5:17 KJV). “…Therefore, since
we have been justified through faith (through dependence upon God’s WORD), we have
peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ…” (Romans 5:1 KJV).
“…Therefore,
there is now no
condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus…”
(Romans 8:1 KJV).
“…For WHOSOEVER SHALL CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD SHALL
BE SAVED…” (Romans 10:13 KJV).
The REFUTERS OF “ONCE SAVED; ALWAYS SAVED” AGREE THAT A TRUE BELIEVER IS SAVED, BUT IF THEY ARE LIVING AS A PAGAN WHERE THEY HAVE FALLEN FROM GRACE, DEPARTED FROM GOD,
AND LIVING, AGAIN, LIKE A NON-BELIEVER, THEY CAN BECOME JUST AS ETERNALLY LOST AS THE “PROFESSED” BELIEVER AND ARE “NOT” GUARANTEED TO INHERIT ETERNAL LIFE.
The
SUPPORTERS of “ONCE SAVED; ALWAYS SAVED”
SAY: THE UNREPENTENT, “TRUE” BELIEVER IS
SAVED, BUT THEY ARE LIVING IN A “TEMPORARY”
STATE OF PAGANISM (FALLEN FROM GRACE,
DEPARTED FROM GOD, AND ACTING LIKE A PAGAN), BUT GOD WILL “CORRECT” THEM SO THEY WILL “STILL” INHERIT ETERNAL LIFE.
LET’S LOOK AT SCRIPTURE regarding “ONCE SAVED: ALWAYS SAVED” AND you
decide for YOURSELF whether you are a SUPPORTER or REFUTER of this DOCTRINE.
SUPPORTERS and REFUTERS of “ONCE SAVED; ALWAYS SAVED” often DEBATE
their opinions, but I, personally, what to KNOW God’s HEART on the matter. “... This
is the will (THE HEART) of Him who sent Me, that of all
that He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise
it up on the last day. For this is the will (THE HEART) of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on
the last day...” (John 6:39-40
NASB).
This VERSE does
not SAY anything about ALWAYS being SAVED, but it does reflect God’s will and
heart’s desire that NONE be lost. God
“….is ... NOT WILLING that any should perish,
but that ALL should come to repentance…” (2 Peter 3:9 KJV).
It is God’s will and heart’s desire that
NONE perish, but nonetheless, MANY will perish anyway. Why will people perish? “…He that believeth on him is not condemned:
but HE THAT
BELIEVETH NOT IS CONDEMNED ALREADY, because HE HATH NOT BELIEVED in the name of
the only begotten Son of God. And THIS
IS THE CONDEMNATION, that light is come into the world, and MEN LOVED DARKNESS
RATHER THAN LIGHT, because THEIR DEEDS WERE EVIL. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light,
neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved…” (John 3:18-20 KJV).
SALVATION is DELIVERANCE from sin, the
sinful nature, its affects, its influences, and its consequences. “... [You have been]
made free from sin….” (Romans 6:18 KJV). “If
the Son therefore shall make you free, you SHALL be free indeed” (John 8:36
KJV).
Being SAVED or MADE FREED from Sin also
FREES your CHOICES and releases you from being a SLAVE to SIN. You can FREELY
choose to live righteous, every day, through faith or dependence upon the indwelling POWER of the Holy Spirit. You
can LIVE FREE by being TRANSFORMED by the renewing of your MIND (a result of
staying and abiding in and with the WORD of GOD). “... Jesus was saying to those
Jews who had believed Him, “If you
(choose to) continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth,
and the truth will make you free...” (John 8:31-32 NASB).
“…the
will of God (his heart’s desire), [is]…your SANCTIFICATION …” (1 Thessalonians 4:3 NASB). Therefore,
“…Be transformed by the renewing of your
mind….” (Romans 12:2 KJV). “…be conformed to the image of his Son…”
(ROMANS 8:29 KJV). “…Choose you this day whom ye will
serve….” (Joshua 24:15 KJV).
“…abide
in me, and I in you.
As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself,
except it abide in the vine…”
(John 15:4 KJV). “…If a man abide NOT in me, ‘he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned…” (John 15:6 KJV).
“…The branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so
neither can you unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are
the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit,
for apart from Me you can do nothing…”
(John 15:4-6 NASB).
The SAVED can FREELY choose to
LIVE, in their deliverance, day by day, by depending upon the EMPOWERING work
of the indwelling Holy Spirit and the Word of God. “I can do all things through Christ (THE WORD) which strengtheneth me.”
(Philippians 4:13 KJV).
“….
if any man be in Christ, he is a NEW creature: old things are passed away;
behold, ALL
things are become new” (2
Corinthians 5:17 KJV). “…Christ liveth in
[you]…” (Galatians 2:20 KJV). “….OLD THINGS (life without the indwelling Holy Spirit) are passed…”
(2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV). “... It
is God (the indwelling Holy Spirit) which worketh in you both to
will and to do of his
good pleasure” (Philippians 2:13 KJV). “… the God of peace… that great
Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in [you,
through the indwelling Holy Spirit]… what is pleasing to him, through
Jesus Christ…” (Hebrews 13:20-21 NIV).
Therefore, the SAVED can
FREELY choose, day by day, to “... abide (stay, continue, remain, etc.)
in
My (god’s) love...” (John 15:9
NASB).
To REMAIN
somewhere, is a CHOICE, which means you are NOT going to depart, but will
continue to STAY right where you are.
“…If a man abide NOT in me, ‘he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned…” (John 15:6 KJV). “... those branches were broken off because they didn’t believe in
(depend upon Christ, the WORD), and you are there (abiding with God) because you do believe (do depend
upon the Word). So don’t think highly of yourself, but fear what could happen. For if God
did not spare the original branches, he won’t spare you either. Notice how God
is both kind and severe. He is severe
toward those who disobeyed, but kind to you if you
continue to trust in (depend upon) his kindness. But if you stop trusting
(stop depending), you also will be cut
off. ...” (Romans 11:20-23 NLT). “...continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine...” (John 8:31-32 NASB).
The SAVED FREELY
chooses to continue with, stay with, abide with, remain with, and does not
depart from their place of UNITY with the
indwelling Holy Spirit. They
CAN FREELY continue SECURELY because, “…He
[or she]… that is joined unto the Lord is ONE SPIRIT….” (1
Corinthians 6:17). “... In Him ,.. you WERE SEALED ...WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT
OF PROMISE.…”
(Ephesians 1 NLT). “... Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of
redemption...” (Ephesians
4:30 NASB). “...after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise...” (Ephesians 1:13 KJV). “... Do not quench (extinguish) the [Holy]...
Spirit...” (1 Thessalonians 5:19 NASB).
The
SAVED are SEALED until the DAY of REDEMPTION and NOTHING can BREAK that SEAL that BONDS together the SOUL and the
HOLY SPIRIT, except ONE THING: The
WORD OF GOD. “... the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing
...to the dividing asunder of soul
and spirit...” (Hebrews 4:12 NASB).
NOTHING
will EVER separate the SAVED from God’s LOVE, but there is something that can
SEPARATE you from his HOLY SPIRIT. WHAT IS IT? The
SINFUL practice of an evil heart of UNBELIEF
can SEPARATE you from his HOLY SPIRIT. “...Take heed, BRETHREN, lest
there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God...” (Hebrews 3:12 KJV).
An EVIL heart of unbelief
CAN SEPARATE you from God, the HOLY SPIRIT. “…Your INIQUITIES (SINFUL PRACTICES) … separated … you and your God…”
(Isaiah 59:2 KJV). “…You have been cut off from
Christ! You have fallen
away from God’s GRACE…”
(Galatians 5:4 NLT).
“…My people would not listen to me
(God, the Holy Spirit). They kept doing whatever they
wanted, following the stubborn desires
of their evil hearts…” (Jeremiah 7:24 NLT). “…I HAVE SOMEWHAT AGAINST THE[m]…[THEY HAVE]…LEFT [THEI]R… FIRST LOVE (God, the Holy Spirit)…”
(REVELATION 2:4 KJV).
“.. [To]... the
church of Ephesus…I KNOW THY WORKS, AND THY LABOR, AND THY
PATIENCE, AND HOW THOU CANST NOT BEAR THEM WHICH
ARE EVIL: AND THOU TRIED THEM WHICH SAY THEY ARE
APOSTLES, AND ARE NOT, AND HAS FOUND THEM LAIRS… I HAVE SOMEWHAT AGAINST THEE... thou art “fallen”…”
(REVELATION 2:2, 5 KJV).
“…to
...those who
were ONCE enlightened—those
who have
experienced the good things of heaven and shared
in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the Word of God and the
power of the age to come— and who
then turn away from God. …”
(Hebrews 6:4-8 NLT).
In the BOOK of Hebrews the message was
mainly to THE CHURCH or early Jewish BELIEVERS or the SAVED. Many of the early
believers were SLIDING back into practices of Judaism. The book of Hebrews was
written to encourage them to continue in the GRACE of Jesus Christ.
The BOOK of Hebrews offers MUCH
encouragement, to the SAVED, about continuing in the GRACE of Jesus by HEEDING
the warnings about neglect, spiritual immaturity, falling away, departing from
God, and unbelief. “... We must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it...” (Hebrews 2:1 NLT). “... The Holy Spirit says,“Today
when you hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts...” (Hebrews 3:7 NLT). “...So
God’s rest is there for people to enter, but those who first heard this good news failed to enter because they disobeyed God. So God set another time for entering his rest,
and that time is today. God announced this through David much later in the
words already quoted: “Today when
you hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts...” (Hebrews 4:6-7
NLT).
“...There is much more we would like to say
about this, but it is difficult to explain, especially since you are spiritually dull and don’t seem to listen. You have
been believers so long now that you ought to be teaching others. Instead, you
need someone to teach you again the basic things about God’s word. You are like
babies who need milk and cannot eat solid food. For
someone who lives on milk is still an infant and doesn’t know how to do what is
right. Solid
food is for those who are mature, who through training have the skill to recognize the difference between right and wrong...” (Hebrews 5:11-14 NLT).
“... So
let us stop going over the basic teachings about Christ again and again. Let us go on instead and become mature in our understanding. Surely we don’t
need to start again with the fundamental importance of repenting from evil
deeds and placing our faith in God. You don’t need further instruction about
baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal
judgment. And so, God willing, we will move forward to further understanding...” (Hebrews 6:1-3 NLT).
“...Therefore, we who have fled to him for
refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before
us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for
our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary...” (Hebrews 6:18-19 NLT).
“ ...Dear friends, if we deliberately continue sinning after we have received
knowledge of the truth, there is no longer
any sacrifice that will cover these sins...” (Hebrews 10:26 NLT).
“... Be careful
that you do not refuse to listen to the One who is speaking. For if the
people of Israel did not escape when they refused to listen to Moses, the
earthly messenger, we will certainly
not escape if we reject the One who speaks to us from heaven...” (Hebrews 10:26-27 NLT).
HEBREWS is
very explicit in its warnings about the things that can affect or influence
falling away or departing from the God’s GRACE. “... SEEING, they CRUCIFY to themselves the SON
of GOD afresh and put him to open shame...” (Hebrews 6:6 KJV).
Christ is
PUT to OPEN SHAME, that is similar to the cruelty of his crucifixion, when the
SAVED falls away or departs from his GRACE. God’s OWN
people trample on him and profaned (disrespect) the blood covenant. They do this
by “falling away” or “deliberately sinning,” thereby, they
have “insulted (offended) the indwelling
Holy Spirit” (disrespected, dishonored, put him to open shame). “…If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received
the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful
expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of
God. Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without
mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished
who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing
the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit
of grace (the indwelling holy spirit)?
For we know him who said, “It is mine to
avenge; I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will
judge his people.” It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God…"
(Hebrews 10:26-31 NIV).
“…For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge
of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of
judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. He that despised Moses' law
died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment,
suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of
God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified,
an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? For we know him that hath
said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And
again, The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God…”
(Hebrews 10:26-31 NASB).
This passage talks
about being put into “the hands of the living God…”
(Hebrews 10:26-31 NASB). AND “…How
shall we escape, if we neglect SO GREAT SALVATION…” (Hebrews 2:3-5 KJV).
If
YOU go on willfully practicing sin and fall away after being sanctified, there is no
other sacrifice for sins, but only a guaranteed expectation of judgement. The Lord shall
judge his people. …”
(Hebrews 10:26-31 NASB).
After
being enlightened, a partaker of the Holy Spirit, tasting the good things of
heaven and the good Word, and experiencing the power of God - according to the Word - it is impossible to
renew YOU again; because it is as if YOU crucify Christ all over again and disgraced
him publicly. “…It is impossible for those who were “once”
enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift,
and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world
to come, If
they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify
to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame…”
(Hebrews 6:4-6 KJV). “…How shall we escape, if we neglect SO GREAT SALVATION…”
(Hebrews 2:3-5 KJV).
“... SEEING,
they CRUCIFY to themselves the SON of GOD afresh and put him to open shame...”
(Hebrews 6:6 KJV). It is HARD to imagine or conceive that the SAVED would
actually choose to fall away or depart from God’s GRACE. Once the SAVED is
married or SEALED to the Holy Spirit
we can’t imagine a DIVORCE, but human will is alive and well.
The SAVED can willfully and voluntarily
fall away or depart from God’s GRACE; causing a spiritual divorce that DESTROYS
the intimate, covenant relationship between Christ and the believer. “... they
CRUCIFY to themselves (by their OWN choice and actions) the SON of GOD afresh...”
(Hebrews 6:6 KJV).
“…For if we (the saved) sin wilfully after that we have received
the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, …”
(Hebrews 10:26-27 NASB).“... I hate divorce!” says the Lord,
the God of Israel. “…” (Malachi 2:16 NLT). “…[MY
PEOPLE] ... broke [THEIR]
... covenant ..[WITH ME],
though I (GOD,
THE HOLY SPIRIT) loved them as a husband loves his wife,” says the Lord…”
(Jeremiah 31:32 NASB). “…If we are
faithless, he remains faithful…” (2
Timothy 2:13 NIV).
REGARDLESS of how IMMUTABLY faithful God, the Holy Spirit is, the SAVED has FREE
WILL! “…[YOU CHOOSE]... this day whom ye will serve….”
(Joshua 24:15 KJV). “…For if we (the saved) sin wilfully after that we have received
…” (Hebrews 10:26-27 NASB). “…you have been cut off from
Christ (JESUS CHRIST)! You have fallen
away from God’s GRACE (FAVOR)…”
(Galatians 5:4 NLT).
“…It’s YOUR [sin of an
evil heart of unbelief departing from the Living God]... that … [will] ...cut
you off
from God…” (Isaiah 59:2 NLT). “…what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial?
Or what
part hath he that believeth with an infidel?”
(2 Corinthians 6:14-15 KJV).
“...Take heed, BRETHREN (fellow believers), lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God...” (Hebrews 3:12 KJV).
BEING
SAVED FREES YOU FROM THE AFFECTS AND INFLUENCES OF SIN AND THE OLD SIN NATURE,
BUT HUMAN WILL IS AT LIBERTY TO CHOOSE TO CONTINUE IN A SINFUL LIFESTYLE.
THEY
CONTINUE IN A SINFUL LIFESTYLE, NOT BECAUSE THEY “HAVE” TO, BUT BECAUSE THEY
“WANT” TO OR "CHOOSE" TO!
GOD
IS IN CONTROL, BUT HE IS “NOT” CONTROLLING. ABIDING WITH GOD, THE HOLY SPIRIT, IS A CHOICE; NOT A
FORCED RESTRICTION. “my people
would not listen to me. They kept doing whatever they wanted,
following the stubborn desires of their evil hearts. They
went backward instead of forward”
(Jeremiah 7:24 NLT). “But
the people replied,
“Don’t waste your breath. We will continue to live as we want to,
stubbornly following our own evil desires”
(JEREMIAH 18:12 NLT).
“…for years on end my people
have FORGOTten ME…”
(Jeremiah 2:32 NLT).
“…They ABANDONED ME and did not obey my word….” (JEREMIAH 16:11 NLT).
Thus, “…Your INIQUITIES
(falling away, departing, etc) … separated … you and your God…”
(Isaiah 59:2 KJV). “…you have been cut off
(SEVERED) from Christ! You have fallen
away from God’s GRACE…”
(Galatians 5:4 NLT). “...hardened
by the deceitfulness of sin...” (Hebrews 3:13 NASB).
THE SAVED WHO FALL AWAY OR DEPART FROM
GOD, THE HOLY SPIRIT, ARE
INADVERTANTLY SAYING “CRUCIFY HIM,
CRUCIFY HIM” OUT OF THEIR OWN LIVES AND HEARTS, “... SEEING, they CRUCIFY to themselves the SON of GOD afresh and
put him to open shame...” (Hebrews 6:6 KJV).
“… repent and
DO the first works [of ABIDING with the WORD of GOD,
the Holy Spirit]…” (Revelation 2:5 KJV).
“…EXCEPT YE REPENT, ye shall all likewise PERISH…”
(Luke 13:3 KJV).
THIS MESSAGE IS TO "THOSE" AND YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!
